Director Kaye Hancock has completed all casting and rehearsals are now in the final stages for this very appealing "Who done it??" Junior Matt Zachari has been cast as Detective Sergeant Trotter, a role which made Richard Henborough one of the foremost stars of the English stage. In addition to Zachari's leading role, other leads have been awarded to Sara Peasley (Mollie Ralston), Jay Jackson (Giles Ralston), Dan Cooney (Christopher Wren), Marie Leslie (Mrs. Boyle), Dave McCormack (M. Paravicini), Kelly Fallaw (Miss Casewell) and Andy Cooley (Major Metcalf). Agatha Christie's works are established as all-time mystery-thriller treats and "The Mousetrap" will not disappoint theatre-goers. Christie is regarded as one of Ludwig Asfeld of the Science Department and students Dean Andreas, Jim Bennet, Dan Long and Bill Schwerdtfeger. Costumes for "The Mousetrap" are being arranged by Sue Rosati and Julie Huff while make-up is being coordinated by Patricia Foresman and Kate Suffield. Joe McCormack, a 1976 Marian alumnus and a participant in numerous Marian productions, is serving the cast as assistant director. "The Mousetrap" will be presented at 8 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 6. Hanahan wants to raise personal income taxes by 20 per cent and remove the limit on corporate tax rates. Stroupe wilt Work to reduce wasteful state spending and to support small businessmen and family farmers. 2. Hanahan was paid over $61,000 last year by three Chicago unions to represent them and $32,000 plus expenses by the taxpayers to represent us. Stroupe says this is a gross conflict of interest, that the taxpayers always come in second, that Hanahan is nothing but a lobbyist on the public payroll. 3. Hanahan poses as someone who cares for "working" men and women, while the bills he sponsors are driving fobs and small business to extinction or to other states. Stroupe says Hanahan is simply enriching himself from the dues of union labor. Stroupe will work to attract businesses and jobs, to be a friend of all working people. 4. Hanahan's campaign is financed by Chicago labor bosses, including a $30,000 corned-beef and cabbage dinner at Plumbers' Hall. Stroupe believes that Chicago big-labor money should not finance a campaign urging us to vote for Hanahan so that he will vote for them. 5. Hanahan is under federal indictment, accused of extortion and mail fraud. Stroupe believes that the voters should not have laws made for them by someone accused of breaking the law. 6. Hanahan is chairman of the McHenry County Democratic Party. As such, he can - single-handedly appoint his successor if he is found guilty as charged. Stroupe believes this quirk in the law must be changed, that no person who vacates an office for any reason should be able to appoint his successor. 7. Hanahan vehemently opposed the Political Honesty Initiative to prevent advance pay, dobble-dipping and conflict- of-interest votes by legislators. Along with *35,000 others, Stroupe supported this effort. He believes the reason for Hanahan's opposition is his flagrant conflict-of-interest. 8. Hanahan was "gone fishing" when the vote was taken establishing the RTA. His active opposition could easily have changed the close vote. Stroupe has been in the forefront of the RTA opposition for two years, attending all budget meetings and telling Pikarsky to his face that he must resign. 9. Hanahan is given a "poor" voting record by the Illinois Environmental Council. He is quoted as saying: "You somehow think the word conservation means to conserve; I think it means to use." Stroupe believes that "We have a great country, pass it on/" that use and growth can and must be balanced with respect for our environment and conservation of our resources. 10. Hanahan strongly opposes the Equal Rights Amendment, referring to female supporters as "bra-less, brainless broads." Stroupe believes this remark shows total arrogance. He supports the ERA and believes in liberty and iustice for all. 11. Hanahan advocates giving public employees the right to strike and forcing them to join a union or pay dues. Stroupe supports collective bargaining for all public employees but opposes strikes against the taxpayers. 12. Hanahan voted to require ail voters to re-register and to require party enrollment 28 days before a primary or not be allowed to vote. Stroupe opposes such "machine" tac tics, preferring an open primary in which a person can vote without declaring to the world a party affiliation. 13. Hanahan has "served"for 12 years with no office and no communication with the voters. He never asks us how he should vote or reports on how he has voted or why. Stroupe believes in open government, in representing the people instead of a special interest, in reporting what he has done and why he did it. 14. Hanahan attended the closed meeting at which the Chicago Board of Education collapsed to the demands of the Chicago Teachers Union, requiring $47.4 million from Springfield to bail out Chicago's school system. Stroupe says Hanahan had no business being at such a meeting. As "the voice of organized labor/' he in effect promised that taxpayers outside Chicago would subsidize Chicago's schools, just like the CTA. 15. Hanahan lives in Sunnyside Estates, in the northeast corner of the district, con venient for his "work" in Chicago. He is in the district only at election time. Stroupe lives in Huntley, in the geographical and population center of the district. He believes in walking the streets and talking to the people. I'm running to tinseat Tom Hanahan as 33rd District Democratic State Representative. Because our area is heavily Republican (64% to 367cf^mcumbent Republicans Cal Skinner and Bruce Waddell are assured re-election. Vote for one or both of them if you feel strongly that they are doing a good fob. But remember that you have three votes for state representative. If you vote only for me, I get all 3 votes, a "bullet". I urge you to cast at least one, preferably 1% or all 3 votes for me, to help me defeat Hanahan for the third seat.
