WEEKEND GUESTS Lester and Mary Dobbins had an enjoyable time when lister's cousins, Flossie and Ansil Merry, came to visit them from Effingham, II. Other relatives who were told of the mini-reunion and came out to share the fun were, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dobbins from Rolling Meadows and Mrs. Virgil Merry from Lake Forest, II All enjoyed catching up on the lastest news and later went out for a delicious dinner. BIRTHDAY SLUMBER PARTY Natalie Krak celebrated her eleventh birthday with a slumber party recently Those who came for the overnight festivities were C'ndy Pat­ terson and Vallerie Boldt. Mom and Dad. Elke and Tom and sister. Rochell, had fun with Natalie and her girl friends at a local pizza establishment. After filling up on pizza and coke they returned home to finish off the brownies and a delicious pumpkin cake The girls had a fun time staying up til after 2 a.m. Needless to say, the family got little sleep that night with the loud whispers of the girls having a good time Happy .eleventh birthday to Natalie! THANKSGIVING DAY PILGRIMAGES Dick and Mary Thennes spent their Thanksgiving with Mary's mother, Mrs Margaret O'Leary in Elgin The Thennes', with their children, Jennifer, Zachary, and Stephen, enjoyed the Thanksgiving feast with Mary's brother, Shawn who came home from Northern Illinois university, and her sister Tammy who attends Bradley. Two other sisters who reside ^at home and helped with the cooking were Erin and Laurie. Erin brought her friend. Bob, over to help celebrate in the festivities. Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kohlman, came in from Lodi, Wi. Others who attended were aunt and uncle. Mrs. and Mrs. George Narloch and their children, Peter, Karen, David and Maria, who traveled in from Milwaukee, Wi. Natalie and Rochelle, and were off to Chicago to visit grandpa, Tom Krak, Sr., and Miss Carol Krak. • They enjoyed their holiday dinner „ and some good con­ versation before returning to McHenry. Carol and Steve Hollister traveled down to Stockton, II., for their Thanksgiving. They left on Wednesday to visit Carol's mother and father, Nola and Howard Hopkins. They feasted with her sister's family. Colleen and Dave Longemann, and son, Sean. Brother, Pat Boyle came in from Freeport with his girlfriend, Tina, and Carol's nephew, Troy. Sisters Christine. Cathy Jo, and Corky Boyle enjoyed catching up on all the news. Carol's grandmother. Beulah Lantz, came in from Rockford to be with the family. They stayed in Stockton til Saturday and proceeded for Sunday dinner to the home of Steve's mother who lives in Freeport. Mrs. Hollister's dinner was enjoyed by great aunt Margaret Ottenhausen and Steve's brother. Kurt Hollister, his wife. Pat, and their children, Naleta, Melissa and Billie. All had a good time and were sorry to see the Thanksgiving weekend come to a close. Bruce and Sue Warren and their children, Joel, Julie and Emily had an enjoyable Thanksgiving visiting with their families in Burlington, Wi., and speaking for them all, thoroughly stuffed themselves on two delicious dinners. First stop was to Bruce's family, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Warren where they took part in a scrumptious dinner and enjoyable visit with Bruce's sister, Cindy, home from the town of Burlington. Again, another delicious supper with all the trimmings. Joe and Judi Weidert and Mrs Mike Weidert were there from Menasha. Wi., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Weidert of Burlington along with Mark, Mary. Ellen. Dan, Paul, Chris, Jim and Karen all helped in c e l e b r a t i n g , b e s i d e s Thanksgiving, mom and dad's thirtieth anniversary. All in all it was a very eventful day and on the way home to McHenry we remembered to be thankful for all of our wonderful relatives and for the extra day of rest on Friday Another family who got together over Thanksgiving weekend included the family of Marilyn and Danny Drake of Lakeland Shores. Visiting from Plymouth, II., were Marilyn's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Knowles along with Marilyn's niece. Allison Grand. Tibby, Sheri and Danny J. enjoyed having their grand­ parents stay with them for the weekend along with their aunt, Peggy Grand, of Atlanta, Ga. Marilyn's sister and brother- in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Cramer with their daughter, Tia. also were there from Plymouth. All had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving in the good old family tradition and are looking forward to the next get-together at Christmas. BUSY WEEKEND! "wasn't exactly the way the Moore family traveled into Chicago for Thanksgiving but they did go to both Grandmothers' homes and of course Grandfather Blaney was there to carve the turkey. Steve and Anne and their children, Kevin, Brian and Suzi. arrived at Grandmother Moore's home Wednesday evening for a pre-Thanksgiving visit. They all went to Anne's parents home Thanksgiving day where they enjoyed the delicious turkey 'n trimmings Grandmother and Grandfather Blaney prepared. Everyone had fun during their family visit and Kevin, Brian, and Suzi were delighted their cousins, Christie, and Michael, were there and they were also glad to see Aunt Pat and Uncle Ron Castiglione and Aunt Mary Blaney and her friend, Chris. It was indeed a fun visit for the Moore family. MORNING EXCITEMENT! Timothy and -Catherine Schulze enjbyed an exciting morning recently when their new son was born. Jeffrey Allen arrived at McHenry hospital at 3:11 a.m.. Sunday. Nov. 7. He weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz., and was 20 >•_> inches long when his mom and dad first saw him. His 2- vear-old brother, Eric, was delighted to have mom and his new little friend home from the hospital. Our congratulations to the Schulze family and a special hello to baby Jeffrey Allen! VACATION WONDERLAND Dick and Mary Thennes took their children. Jennifer and Zachary, on a vacation to Disney World in Orlando, FL, recently. When Jennifer and Zachary were asked what their favorite rides were, they piped up with Small World, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and shooting air rifles at . Indians from atop a fort. Mom and Dad enjoyed all the rides and seeing their children having a good time. And, of course, everyone loved meeting the master of ceremonies, "the great Mickey Mouse"! They were sorry when the week was over and they had to drive down to Tampa and catch a plane for home. Dick and Mary's jjaungest son, Stephen, stayed vmh his grandmother, Mrs. Margaret O'Leary in Elgin, where he enjoyed being spoiled not only by grandma, but by his aunts, Erin and Laurie. The Thennes' had a good time but were glad to have their family back together at home. BLUE BUNDLE! Blue is the new color at the home of Thomas and Rose Marie Canady due to the arrival of their infant son. Thomas Garrick made his debut at McHenry hospital Thursday, Nov. 18. He weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and has two big sisters who were eager to have mom and their baby brother home. Ten year old Michele and 6 year old Paulette are sure to be good mother's helpers and are delighted with their new little brother. Allow half a duckling per person and about 1 to 2 days to thaw the ducklings in the refrigerator. A lime walnut glaze adds a flavorful touch to the party dish, and kumquat flowers are a pretty garnish for the duckling platter. To make the kumquat flowers, cut from the blossom end to the center four times. Pull out the rind to form 4 petals. Tuck a piece of maraschino cherry into the centers for a bright note. Cut off a slice at the base of each kumquat and arrange the kumquat flowers on slices of lime. Roast Ducklings With Lime Walnut Glaze Yield: 4 servings 2 Swift's Premium V* cup lime juice Ducklings, about 4 V4 teaspoon cornstarch pounds each V* teaspoon ginger Vi cup corn syrup V4 cup chopped walnuts Thaw the ducklings according to directions on wrapper. Remove giblets. Rinse thawed ducklings with cold water and drain. Fill lightly with stuffing, if desired. Truss and tie into compact shape. Place ducklings breast side up on it rack in a shallow open pan. Use no water or cover. Roast in a 325°F. oven 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Blend together corn syrup, lime juice and cornstarch in a saucepan and cook approximately 10 minutes, stirring constantly until thickened. Add walnuts.
