Near the key, Hurckes flips an over- t£e-shoulder pass to Brian Miller, Miller in next photo, comes in on Ofown's Steve Hebel as he nears the net and the final photo has -9 Miller in the air and the shot was good for two points and the Warriors got back on the winning track with a hustling H4-64 win over Crown. (STAFF PHOTOS-WAYNE GAYLORD) Warriors Begin Second ** 0 Round In Conference Snowmobile News \ By Dick Rabbitt -Coach Ken Ludwig's HpHenry High Warriors begin second round play in the North Saburban with a pair of games ofi tap this weekend. ^Tonight ihe Warriors travel t<£Mundelein to take on Coach IJjck Starkey's Mustangs and tomorrow night host the Harrington Broncos. Back on December 10th the Warriors defeated the Miistangs by the score of 76 to in a game in which the Warriors were in complete control throughout the game. Up until two weeks ago wheh Mustang star guard Greg Boyle wis injured, the Mustangs wtjj-e going at a rapid clip. SsBce Boyle's injury the MWstangs have lost 4 and won only 1. Last week he came back in a losing cause to Liber tyville Boyle managed only 11 pts., and from reports he was limping quite badly throughout the game. This was far below his season average of 29. Whether Boyle plays or not, the Warriors will have their hands full on the Mustang court. Tomorrow night the Broncos are coming to town, hoping to avenge their only conference defeat The Warriors handed them a 69 to 67 loss in the opening conference game of the season. The Broncos are 7 and 1 in the conference and 15 and 2 overall. The Broncos are currently riding a six game winning streak, and with the addition of Ike Person, a 6'5" transfer student from East Rockford. are now one of the better teams in this part of the state. The Warriors broke their five game losing streak against Crown, and this should give them confidence for the pair of games this weekend. The revised lineup may be just the tonic the Warriors need for the rest of the conference schedule. You know that Barrington fans always back a winner, so a good cr6wd of Bronco fans are expected. Although the Warriors don't draw good on Saturday nights, let's hope this will be an exception, and pack the gym for what will be a whale of a basketball game. Frosh Wrestlers Finish 8th In Barrington Tournament Coach Bill Hutchinson's McHenry High freshmen wrestlers finished 8th out of a 16 team field in the Barrington lr«ehmen tourney held last w^kend Bruce Brda at 98 lbs., finished third, and his record is now 18 and 1, suffering his first loss of the season. George Lauer finished 4th in the consolation division. Bob Roewer finished 3rd. and has a season record of 1*5 and 2. At 185 Mike Atchison placed 4th and his record is now 10 and 3. Wheeling won the meet with 133 pts., and the Warriors in 8th had 72 pts. Now hear this ~ from "Biff Meyer.: Dear Earl: Nice guy - Bob Weber - Always liked him. Now that I know he's a Cub fan - even more so. Seems ironic that on the back-side of this success story there should be a caption - "On the Sidelines" Never happen Went to an affair Sunday and seated next to me was "Gert" McGlore. On each plate there was a stick of Wrigley's Chewing Gum To break the ice for conversation I said. "Are you a Cub fan?" She slowly turned my way and said, "I'm from the South side - we're all Sox fans". I said too bad my friend Earl Walsh isn't here, there would be two Sox fans here. I think you would have en joyed "Certs'* conversation. Keep smiling, St. Patrick's Day is coming. * "Biff" Meyer Dear "Biff": You Cub fans do come out of the woods now and then But. super salesman Meyer ran into his match in the person of "Gert" McGlore. You have to keep your guard up when you mention Cubs to those South Side Irish. Plans are in the making for another glorious St Patrick's Day. The60'Bimbos are planning another party. There will be singing and a little nip to ease the throat. Stop in to see us when you come to McHenry. I don't mind mixing with the "enemy forces Yours ̂ S.I H Couldn't make the last meeting of the McHenry Library Board, but am pleased to learn that Pres Bill Bolger named me on the committee to develop the historical room. Bill had a welcome letter from Don Hoenes, offering some old time pictures. They will be more than welcome. Guess I don't get around like I used to Just read the Plaindealer and learned of Harry Locke's death We enjoyed several dinner meetings of the World War One vets at the invitation of Harry. Somehow, we didn't think that old warrior would ever die. Also learned that Joe Grobel. former McHenry police chief died in Florida ^ Old time friends are reaving and the ranks are getting thinner. That big fishing derby at McCullom Lake is set for Feb. 5-6 It's a popular event Some killjoy expert has come out with a prediction that we can expect three or four more old fashioned winters.
