Green Street McHenry, IL 385-6750 Five Area Churches Share Lenten Series Most words have more than one meaning, hut these meanings can often be cap- tured in a few words, maybe a single synonym. Not so with a Hebrew word prominent in todays Christian literature: Shalom^ What is Shalom? Why can one not be satisfied with its dictionary definition? Is it not just a word, belonging only to the verbal world? Or does it really begin to live when it is a part of our extensional world, the world of experience? One can discover answers to these and many other questions by taking affirmative action and making a Lenten com mitment to learn. Five area churches will share a lenten series as follows Feb 27: "Shalom for All Ages" Filmstrip and individual expressions of Shalom in song, poetry, art and drama. McHenry United Methodist Church. 5-7:30 p.m t March 6: "Shalom and Conflict" Speaker: Rev.. Bill Wilcox, executive chaplain. New Performing Company Plans Feb. 23 Opening The Woodstock Performing company, a new professional performing company with ties to Woodstock's historic theatrical past, will open its first season of productions as a professional resident per forming company Feb. 23, 1977 in the courtroom of the old courthouse and jail. The new company, was organized by co-directors Dick Sasso and Will Haas, in con junction with Cliff Ganschow Ganschow said the com pany's opening performance will take place in the original McHenry county courtroom of the old courthouse rather than the Woodstock Opera House because it is a new courtroom drama written especially for the Woodstock opening. He said discussions are under way with city officials exploring the possibility of the professional company also doing its regular summer season in the recently restored Opera House. During Woodstock's famed 1948-50 theatre era, Haas was director of the original Woodstock Players, which inrlii^oH r!nt<Al/4;M/% n a ---n-vu vjviMiumci o^c, Ketsy Palmer.
