Sheriff Cyrus Sanford added two more prisoners to his county jail roster Saturday, when Walter Bender, age 17, and Axel Johnson, 15, were apprehended on a charge of breaking into summer cottages on Fox River near Johnsburg. Frank Kern, who played with the McHenry Grays for ,two. seasons, is gaining con­ siderable publicity on the sport pages of the big newspapers since he joined the Chicago Cubs at their training camp. Nix, pastor of St. Mary's church, who attended the Eucharistic Congress in Manila, the services of the church are in charge of the assistant pastor, Father Francis J. Miller. The last of a series of programs was given at the Community high school Monday evening and was Well received by those who heard it. The entertainment was given by the Hugo Brandt concert company in a presentation of melody, song and story which was given free of charge for adults and students. Members of the benefit committee for the St. Valen­ tine's Day card party and dessert luncheon, sponsored by the McHenry Women's club, are congratulating each other on what turned out to be the club's most successful benefit to date. A checlcin the amount of $600, representing this year's proceeds, was presented to William J. Bolger, president of the McHenry public library. Three juveniles were ap­ prehended by Woodstock police last Saturday on a charge of stealing a car in McHenry. Two of the youth were from this community and a third from Winnebago county.
