She is a choreographer and a teacher as well as a performer and has been Evans' teaching assistant at the American Dance festival, New London, Conn., ! at the American university Academy of Per­ forming Arts in Washington, DC., where she performed with Evans and Gregg Lizenbery at the National Cathedral, and in several technique and compositon courses at the University of Utah. She has served as Evans' choreographic assistant on many occasions and has been engaged to restage his works for several university dance groups. Mrs. Wiegman is also a jazz and tap dancer, and will teach jazz technique in workshops residencies conducted by the Evans company. Dr. Gemell Reelected Head Of Hospital Staff SHIRLEY WIEGMAN A former McHenry high school graduate will be one of the featured performers when a renowned dance company comes to Chicago for three performances next week. Shirley Wiegman, daughter of Glenn and Shirley Jenkins, 1512 Freund street, McHenry, is a featured dancer with the Bill Evans Dance company. The 1971 graduate of MCHS will perform at 8 p.m. Thur­ sday, Friday, and Saturday, at the Dance center of Columbia college, 4730 N. Sheridan road, Chicago. The public is invited to the concert, and Mrs. Wiegman would like to see her friends backstage afterward. While attending high school, Mrs. Wiegman was the class president for two years, and also was a cheerleader and a member of the Honor society. Mrs. Wiegman began her association with Bill Evans in summer dance workshops conducted by the Utah Repertory dance theatre, and continued this association as Evans' student in the Depart­ ment of Ballet and Modern Dance at the University of Utah, where she recently received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Before going to Utah, Mrs. Wiegman studied at the University of Wisconsin with Margaret H'Doubler, Louise Kloepper and numerous guest artists Before joining the Evans company, she served as an understudy to the Ririe- Woodbury Dance company and Name the Pub Game! Green SL, McHenry Deaths HELEN IMMEKUS Mrs. Helen Immekus, 73, died early Thursday morning, March 3, at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, after an extended illness. She had made her home at 4807 W. Home avenue. Mrs. Immekus was born Dec. 8, 1903. Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1972. A sister-in-law, Clara Noonan of McHenry survives. Arrangements are pending at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home. KATE E. McKAY The mother of the Rev. Ar­ thur McKay, pastor of the St. Paul's Episcopal church, McHenry, died Tuesday, March 1, at the Episcopal Church home, Chicago. Kate E. McKay was 94 years of age and had made her home for the past ten years at the Chicago Residence. COSMETOLOGY DEMONSTRATION - This was the scene at the Cosmetology demonstration conducted by the McHenry chapter of VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) at a work-meeting held last week at West campus. She came to the United States as a young lady and settled in Winnetka, where she married Arthur McKay Nov. 16, 1914. She was active in the church there and a member of the Eastern Star until the move to Chicago. The Rev. McKay of McHenry is the only survivor. Her husband preceded her in death. A requiem Mass was offered at the church home Thursday morning. Memorial con­ tributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal church, McHenry. Squabble Ends In Disorderly Conduct Charge At 7:10 p.m. Friday, McHenry County Sheriff's police responded to a report of a family dispute at the home of Sandra Simon, 7416 Wooded Shore drive, Wonder Lake. The squabble apparently resulted from the arrival of her estranged spouse, Lloyd Simon, 3709 Jones street, McHenry. Simon allegedly refused to cooperate, resisted, and fought during efforts to place him under arrest. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting a police officer, and aggravated battery, with bond to be set. Charges that natural gas is withheld probed. NICHOLAS GEMELL. M.D. Nicholas I. Gemell, M.D., has been re-elected president of the Medical-Dental staff at McHenry hospital. Dr. Gemell, a radiologist, is a native of Austria arid received his Doctor of Medicine degree there. He served his internship at St. Francis hospital, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and completed his radiology residency at the Ohio State University hospitals, Colum­ bus, Ohio. Prior to coming to McHenry in 1964, Dr. Gemell held assistant directorships of radiology departments at both Ohio State univeristy medical center and Michael Reese hospital, Chicago. Dr Gemell recently com­ pleted a two-year term as president of the Medical-Dental staff at McHenry hospital.
