Over 400 local congregations of the conference of the United Methodist church with a combined membership of approximately 170.000 will be cooperating in this united appeal The Reverend James E Segin will preach at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday. March 20 on the theme: "Prayer of Security" Crusade visitors will join in a service of consecration during the morning services and then meet at 2 p.m. for final briefing before beginning home visits to invite family com­ mitments The committee in charge of organizing the local church effort in Greenwood includes, Terry Schwebke. chairperson. Fred Seeds. Marylin Schwebke. Charles and Wilna Davis, and Evan Yogel In Ringwood the local church effort includes. Andrew Penrod, chairperson. Ron Silzer. Martha Bidlak. James and Pat Strom and Herb Halm. The Crusade visitation is ex­ pected to be concluded during the next week so that the results may be announced and celebrated Sunday. March 27. SEWING CIRCLE The Sewing Circle of the Ringwood U.M.W. and friends will meet at the home of Arline Pearson on Thursday, March 24 beginning at 10:30 a.m. until you need to leave or 3 p.m. A delicious lunch is served by volunteers and Mrs. Pearson. RETIREMENT It was a most enjoyable evening for Bud Oxtoby and his wife. June, last Saturday, when he was honored by his fellow employees and their guests at a dinner on the occasion of his retirement after thirty-two years with Morton Chemical. Bud was presented with a mini-motor for a boat, with battery and case. However, it was thought June might ap­ preciate the motor the most because she usually did the rowing while Bud fished. It is a gift they will greatly enjoy. Dan Schmitt, plant manager, was emcee for the evening and introduced Tom Dobovich, president of Morton and Norwich, and Bob Covalt. vice- president of Morton Chemical. Bud's co-workers. Emil Simon and Paul Polidora. also spoke extending best wishes The Oxtobys are very appreciative for the evening, it is one they will long remember. TRAVELERS Bi^l and Shirley Cristy, with daughter, Sherri, drove down to Havana last weekend to visit their son and daughter-in-law. Larry adn Diane Cristy. On Sunday, they drove to Dixon Mounds where they viewed the Indian burial grounds. "500" CARD CLUB The Paul Walkington's en­ tertained their "500" card club in their home last Saturday evening. Supper was served with cards following and they finished the evening up with a delicious dessert. Those really playing their cards were Danny and Ruth Rawson with high scores and the low scorers for the evening were Clarence and Kay Adams. SURPRISE Pattie Miller, Sue Erwin, Pam and Dan Kehoe, Ray and Tom Low really pulled a sur­ prise on their parents, Walt and Doris Low, last Sunday evening. They decided in order to surprise especially Walt they would have to do something different, so they took their parents out for dinner for their anniversary early. Mabel Thomas of McHenrv. Walt and Alice Mae Wilcox of Woodstock and Dan Hansen and John Maddy joined the group for dinner Other friends stopped by later. BIRTHDAYS Happy Birthday goes to Cory Betts March 19 and to Sue Erwin, Rita Cerny, James Reed and to Ethel Wiedrich March 20. March 21 is that special day for Ruth Ann Hogan. Darcy Hogan, and Ron Silzer and that special day for Felicia Ann Hogan and Dolly Malsch is March 22. March 23 finds Loren Harrison, Mrs. Leo Smith and Alan Walker celebrating their natal day and Daphne Bruce celebrating March 25. Happy Birthday to all of you wonderful people. Choreography will be done by Talutha Tesmer of Spring Grove. Included in her long line of professional dancing credits on broadway are "Jumbo". "Casa Mannana" and "Show of Shows". She toured the U.S.A., Canada and Mexico as Margo Martin, interpretive dancer. Recently she has been director of the Lake Region School of Performing Arts and co-producer of Court Garden productions. She has c h o r e o g r a p h e d " D a m n Yankees", "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Hello Dolly" for Woodstock high school. Nancy Kole of Harvard will be the director. Conducting the orchestra and chorus will be Thomas Steffens, of Woodstock The vocal lead director is John Forbish. There will be dinner theatei arrangements with both the 01 Courthouse inn and the Woodstock inn for all per­ formances.
