SENIOR CITIZEN'S CORNER HELPFUUDEAS FOR SUCCESSFUL RETIREMENT Happy Retirement The man who doesn't want to retire, who accepts his gold watch with reluctance, most likely faces a difficult period of adjustment. Forced retirement is very much a part of the Amer ican business scene and must be dealt with realistically. Some people find it almost im possible to plan for a retirement they don't want. They cling to the hope they might be able to con vince their employer they are essential, "not really old enough to retire," still capable of making worthwhile contributions. All this may be true but companies, par ticularly large corporations, have'-the same rules for all em ployees. And they stick to the rules. The man who has something left to contribute, who can still produce, as a salesman, a craft sman, or whatever, can find a mafket for his abilities. The pay may be less, but so will be the hours, and the responsibility. Anyone facing a retirement situation should face up to it -- to the reality of it -- and make some definite plans. Such is the route to retirement happiness. "Imitation" Foods Some foods are labeled as "imitations" of other foods. Under a Food and Drug Ad ministration regulation, the word "imitation" is used when a food is nutritionally inferior to the product which it resembles and for which it is a substitute. Young Choirs Featured In Sfory-Tellin' Man" BIG SIGN...Two Guns, Arizona is a hamlet on Inter state 44, but the town thinks big. This huge 60-foot sign can be seen miles away. A deep, mysterious canyon near here was once an Apache stronghold. "The Story-Tellin' Man," a children's musical written by Ken Medema, will be presented Sunday, March 20, at 3 p.m. in the West campus auditorium by the combined children's choirs of the First United Methodist church of McHenry. The forty-two young people involved in this presentation are in the third through the ninth grade. They sing the parables of Jesus with a modern, bright flavor. The Story-Tellin' Man tells how He lived on earth long before anyone now on earth, or their grandparents or even their great-grandparents were born. He was known as a friend, teacher and healer of the sick, to some as a troublemaker and considered to be their enemy. It is even suggested that perhaps some know Him as the One whose birthday is celebrated each Christmas day. He gladly told His stories to all kinds of people...everyday *Tolks, lawbreakers, the poor and discouraged. Associating with these people didn't make Him the most popular person in town, especially with sbme of the local "bigwigs". Tim Ballowe plays the part of the Story-Teller. The musical is under the direction of Ed and Irene Wittrock. Everyone is invited to attend, with a special invitation to all the local church congregations. m •& We have Bank or M o t o r Co.
