Elm St. At the McHenry Senior Citizens club meeting held Monday. March 14. Frank Giel. bowling chairman, announced regretfully that it was necessary to terminate his position One hundred and sixty-four members were in attendance when his an­ nouncement concluded a report on the bowlers banquet scheduled to be held April 28 at the Branded Steak house. He also gave a brief resume of bowling events which members had participated in since 1969. A standing ovation gave compliment to his years of commendable service. Three new members were welcomed into the club and currant members were reminded that any Senior Citizen who is three months in arrears in dues is automatically dropped from the membership rolls. All were urged to check their cards. Future activities discussed included the annual club picnic , slated for Saturday. July 16 at the Johnsburg Community club grounds and the special showing of the West Campus presentation of "Camelot" at no charge for Senior Citizens. Tuesday, March 22 at 8 p.m. Social chairman, Anne Reh- finger. advised that the tickets for the spring smorgasbord. Monday. April 25. are being sold on a first-come, first-serve basis because of the limited seating Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and those unable to come to the dinner can attend the program at 7:45. She also reminded the members that it simplifies things for the social committee if the ladies volunteer to bring cakes The bus trip to the Police ^Communication center and Fire academy in Chicago, with luncheon served family style in a Chinese restaurant on Wednesday. The bus will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m. Mrs Louise Giel reported a very few reservations still left for the Macinac Island trip June 13 This is a five day trip and reservations should be made promptly. The next meeting for the club will be March 28 when the program will be given by the McHenry Choral club Tickets will be available through Mrs. Giel for the Choral club's an­ nual spring concert. Members of the St. John's Home and School association are bringing spring to Johnsburg with the Spring Fling dance, an annual effort to raise funds for St. John's school The date is March 26 at the Johnsburg Community club from 8:30 p.m 'til 1 a.m. Warm and lively music and a free late-night buffet will be provided by mothers of St. John's school children and religious education students. Tickets are available through the children or at the door. For further information, call 385- 3959. Women of the Moose Barrington, will be the guest speaker and discussion leader. Dr. Jacobs is involved in the training of people who work with children under 8 years of age. She is consultant of the Head Start program in the city of Chicago and teaches at Chicago Teachers' college. Mrs Jacobs is now working on her second doctorate degree at Chicago Medical school with the future of working with children who have psychological problems. She will work especially in family counselling situations. McHenry Women of the Moose No. 1348 held their monthly meeting March 15 with eighteen present. Enrollment was held for Mildred Giding, sponsored by Doris Low, Donna Humann, sponsored by Carol Humann. and Rosala Whitaker sponsored by Marge Granath Future events include "green car" night at DesPlaines. the children's party April 9 (donations of hard boiled eggs »can be taken to the Moose hall) and the officers' dinner at the lodge Monday, April 18, with tickets available through members. Elearnor Haerle will receive her cap and gown at Mooseheart in June and Eileen Hodgson will receive her red stole at the first meeting in July. The A-F session will take place at Arlington Heights in the Jimmy Durante room April 3 with a few members planning to attend. The next meeting of the Women of the Moose will take place April 5. The Veterans administration plans to begin construction of new hospitals at Richmond, Va., and Bay Pines, Fla., this year. As an educator and psychologist she is involved in adult therapy and counselling also. „ Dr. Jacobs is especially convinced that 'early years' in each child's life are most im­ portant in future mental and emotional health as an in­ dividual. Mothers of young children and expectant mothers will be especially interested in the opportunity to hear Dr. Jacobs A question and answer period will also be provided. American Legion Auxiliary News By Pearl Cooper Special guests at the annual membership dinner of the McHenry unit of the American Legion auxiliary were Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Murphy of Aurora, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Johnson of Aurora, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Petrie of Elburn, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Norris of Sugar Grove. Miss Florence Kennedy of Harvard. Mrs. Helen Neilsen of Harvard, and Edward Datz. Mrs. Elaine Murphy is the Department of Illinois, American Legion auxiliary, president. Mrs. Johnson (Eileen) is the Department of Illinois, American Legion auxiliary, sergeant-at-arms. Mrs. Carrie Petrie is the 11th district president and Mrs. Norris (Marna) is the 11th district secretary. Miss Ken­ nedy is the McHenry County council president and Mrs. Neilsen is her secretary. Mr. Datz is the husband of Margaret Datz, McHenry unit president. Approximately 100 members and guests were present to see the following members receive their /honor guard' mem­ bership pins: Elizabeth Schoewer, 50; Lillian Jensen, 40; Emma Lieser, 35. Mrs. Murphy commented on the good work the McHenry unit was doing in all aspects of the American Legion auxiliary and congratulated the unit for almost 100 percent in mem­ bership. Membership chairman, Mrs. David (Dois) Henken, was in charge of the dinner and awarded the membership committee with gifts. Those on the Membership committee were Francis Matchen, Tina Boeker, Grace Latimer, Alyce Brda, Marilyn Miller, Adele Butler, Lorraine Freund and Ruth Mrachek the gals were congratulated for a job well done'. Husbands and guests were invited after the dinner for dancing. The wonderful dinner was prepared and served by members of the McHenry Rifle squad, with Ed Reid, Roy Homo and Howard Paulin in charge of the cooking. A donation was made to the Rifle squad by the auxiliary mem­ bers. The Rifle squad, in turn, gave the money to the auxiliary to be used in their Americanism program. SCOPE-Successful Childbirth and Organized Parent Education-will again be of­ fering its bimonthly class for women in their first trimester of pregnancy Monday, March 28, 7:30 p.m., at the First Methodist church in Crystal Lake All women in their first three months of pregnancy are en­ courage to attend. A dietician, physical therapist, and prepared childbirth instructors will be on hand to discuss nutrition, exercises^drugs, rubella, smoking, sex, x-rays, and a variety of other sub­ jects dealing with health and pregnancy. There will be a small fee to cover the cost of handouts, and this fee will be applicable to a SCOPE membership. Any women with questions about this early pregnancy class may call Mrs. Gary S.
