Extension homemakers who attended from McHenry county were Connie Steffen, McHenry county HE.A. president, McHenry; Mary Macheroux, Woodstock, 4-H chairman; Jan Jones, Greenwood, special activities; Dorothy Gile, Hebron, International chair­ man; and members Mary Harrer. McHenry; Dorothy Benoy, Harvard and Janeil Border, Hebron. "Living is Learning" was the theme for the conference. A series of programs looking at -the role women play in im­ proving the quality of life for their families began Tuesday at 1 p.m. - . Several speakers and presentations highlighted the conference program Betty Siegel, dean of the School of Education. Western Carolina university, Cullowhee, North Carolina, spoke at the general session Wednesday afternoon. Siegel is a frequent consultant to „ women's groups on educational and business op­ portunities for women. Dean Orville Bentley, College of Agriculture, University of Illinois, presented the "Food for Century III" program Wednesday. Dean Bentley discussed the' need for con­ tinued food research to meet consumer demands and in­ troduce the $115 million building proposal from the University of Illinois Cham­ paign-Urbana campus. Gracie Peterson, a member of the music department at Monmouth college, Monmouth, 111., presented a musical program, "Africa: A Fabulous Place in a Wonderful World," at the Tuesday evening banquet. "Lady, You're Rocking the Boat"' concluded Wednesday activities. Muriel Bach, a Chicago entertainment personality, presented the one- woman show depicting the lives of six women activists. Eastern Star To Hold Card Party McHenry chapter. No. 547, Order of the Eastern Star, will sponsor a card party Tuesday, March 29, at 7 p.m in Acacia hall.
