Spring Eva Freund Grove 675 2135 LCWC Woman Of Year Chosen From Monthly Nominees Members of the Lotus Country Woman's club will nominate a Woman of the Month for one year and from this group a Woman of the Year will be selected. It will be based on enthusiasm shown in club work and participation in community affairs. Chosen for the month of February is Kay Smith and for March, Sue Popelka These nominations were made at a meeting held March 9. The meeting was opened with a prayer and salute to the flag with Frances Heinemann presiding The corresponding secretary read invitations to Reciprocity days from Marengo Womans club, March 18; Algonquin Womans club, April 6 and Wonder Lake Womans club. April 21. The resignation of Frances Mc-* Nally as a member was read. It was voted»to present her with a Life Membership. Plans were discussed for the club's reciprocity day, which will be held on April 20, 12-noon luncheon and meeting at St. Peter's hall. The program will be a comedy-fashion show. By-Law revisions were read by Kay Smith. The nominating committee presented their slate of officers: Judy Brewer, vice-president and Eva Freund. recording secretary. There was an unanimous vote cast that they be accepted for a term of two years. All favored by saying "aye". Sue Popelka volunteered as chairperson for a Bike-a-thon as a fund-raising event for the Cystic Fibrosis drive. Also guest speakers, Brother Augustine and Ssiter Mary Lou Kagan held the in­ terest of all present telling of the good work and help given the poor at St. Elizabeth clinic and social center in Rockford. The meeting was conducted by President Dolores May. Reports given were on the success of the card party, on Christian Action and opening of the Cancer drive in April.
