Honor High Ranking Food-a-Rama Set Students At Marion p Fair Grounds Courthouse Meetings I'AUK :i - PLAINDEALER-WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13. 1977 Marian Central Catholic high school recently held its second academic honors banquet. The program was initiated last year to give special recognition to the students who achieved the highest degree of academic success in their daily classroom work. A total of sixty-five students from the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes at tended the banquet with their parents. Selection was limited to those students achieving academic records which ranked them in the upper 10 percent of their respective classes. Activities for the evening began with a banquet for the 200 students, parents and teachers attending. On hand to assist with the dinner were members of Marian's National Honor society. After dinner, Thomas Parsley, principal, awarded each of the honored students with a certificate of recognition. The main address of the evening, "The Changing Trends in Education," was given by Dr. Paul Messbarger, director of the Honors program at Loyola university, Chicago. Dr. Messbarger presented a Local Actress Will Appear In "Trial Of Judge" DONATELLE Donatelle, a McHenry resident, has been cast in the Woodstock Performing com pany's production,. "The Trial of a Judge", which will open in Woodstock, April 13. The daughter of a professional musician, Donatelle was literally "raised in a trunk", though most of her childhood was spent in Chicago and Las Vegas. The family finally settled in McHenry, where Donatelle still lives with her two sons. Following the tradition of her family, Donatelle entered the world of theatre immediately upon graduation from high school. She has appeared in numerous productions, and is the r; eipient of both the "Thespis" award and "Best Actress in a Dinner Theatre" award. She is also a make-up artist and is employed as a cosmetician. "The Trial of a Judge" is an original work written by Greg VonDare especially for the Woodstock Performing com pany for presentation as an authentic courtroom drama in the courtroom of the Old Courthouse on the Square in Woodstock, Illinois. It is based on a concept by Dick Sasso, producer and artistic director for the company. On May 18, the company becomes the professional company for the premier spring-summer season at the newly refurbished Woodstock Opera House. Information about the company is available by writing the Woodstock Per forming Company, P.O. The audience responded warmly to Dr. Messbarger's personal anecdotes of his experiences in his personal quest for ex cellence at Notre Dame and the University of Minnesota. As an attempt to allow students to see some tangible results of the studying they are doing in high school years, Tim Frenzer, 1976 Marian graduate, currently completing his fresh man year at Loyola university, made some interesting com ments to the group about the nature and and challenge of college life. Tim is one of three Marian freshman at Loyola this year. All three, including Mary Marinis and John McGowan, as well as Tim Frenzer, were on Loyola's honor roll the first semester.
