SECTION 2-PAGE 6-PLAINDEALER--WEDNESDAY APRIL 27 1977 ...Taking A Ride In The Country... STAFF PHOTOS BY WAYNE GAYLORD The Plalndealer photographer stepped out of his home one day recently to find three persons enjoying a different kind of country ride. At left, the balloon barely passes over rooftops. At top, the balloon passes over McHenry Shores and Country Club Estates. Above, the balloon passes directly over the photographer's home, offering a comparison between the balloon size and the basket carrying the three passengers. As the photo at right shows, the balloonists enjoy waving and shouting greetings to the onlookers below. All shots were taken while the photographer stood on his patio as the balloonists dipped, bobbed and weaved in the wind while...just taking a ride in the country... WORKWISE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 1. County Cancer Drive Sets 152,000 Goal "There is still time to help fight cancer with a regular health checkup and a generous check for lifesaving programs," Mrs. Carol Steadman, R.N., McHenry county unit of the American Cancer society's educational and fund-raising committee member, said recently. "To put McHenry county over its $52,000 goal, we need help," she said. "Cancer research is com plicated and expensive, and other kinds of funding are also necessary," Mrs. Steadman said. "For example these are ACS fellowships for young physicians and dentists specializing in cancer treat ment. There are programs of rehabilitation and service to help improve the quality of life for cancer patients; and of key importance are the society's public educational programs that alert people to early detection and help them develop good personal health habits." "One out of three people who get cancer today is being cured. Early diagnosis and treatment could make it one in two," the ACS crusade leader said. "We want to wipe out cancer, so join this crusade," she urged. "Fight cancer with a checkup and help others with a generous check when the American Cancer society volunteer comes around."
