Linda appeared in the Talent of Youth program that was produced and directed by Marie (Dove Carter) Thomas of McHenry. This program was open to all youths in the McHenry county. This was a three hour program where the area"" youths displayed their talents in ballet, violin, acting, singing, piano and free style. Linda is a beginning ven­ triloquist with her automaton (dummy) Charlie. They en­ joyed singing the alphabet song to the audience and acting out their skit that was produced by Marie Thomas. It was very thrilling to look out and see the large audience and, of course, a little frightening. But Linda took it all in stride and per­ formed beautifully. BUSY WEEKEND The Walinski household was bustling with activity recently. Beside Linda appearing in the Talent of Youth program, Beverly, prepared a lovely Sunday dinner for Marie Cross, Mildred Murphy, and Helen Wanat before they drove to Woodstock to see Linda per­ form. After the performance it was off to Schaumburg for a Con­ firmation party for Cathy and David Niven. Sue Gibson and Drexell Miller of Lakeland Park were also at the party. After the Confirmation, it was off to Norridge for a Christening party. Proud parents, Jack and Laura Gray, had their beautiful son, Shann, baptized. The Walinskis were very happy to get home and climb into their beds that night. A SURPRISE In spite of a very bad cold, Sue Warren attended a local TOPS club meeting last week and what a lucky gal she was. Sue, who was leader of the IL 483 McHenry chapter last year, was honored by the club members because she did such a wonderful job as the chapter leader. She had no idea the evening's meeting was planned to honor her so she was quite surprised. She received some very practical gifts but the happy moment came when she opened the gift from the club members. Members "chipped in" and she received a beautiful pair of diamond earrings. She also received a plaque dedicated to her and the past leaders pin was presented by the new leader, Joan Dahl/ All in all, Sue was quite surprised and happy and was delighted that she attended the meeting, in spite of her cold. TROOP 320 The girls of Troop 320 went on a hike to the ice cream shop recently. The girls have been saving their money for an ice cream treat and from what we heard they enjoyed it im­ mensely. SPRING AWARENESS Motorists, please reduce your speed while children are riding their bikes on the roads. We have a few blind spots on our roads where you cannot see children playing on the road. Also many children have just learned to ride their bikes and the sight of an oncoming car startles them. They might fall onto the road, so to avoid a tragedy, please slow down in our subdivision. ASSOCIATION NEWS The Lakeland Park Property Owners association board met recently to elect a new slate of officers. The new officers are President, Herbert Heritage; Vice President, Harold Bowlin; Secretary, Richard Thennes; and Treasurer, Elmer Boeldt. Congratulations to the new officers and may they have a smooth running year. There will be a newsletter forthcoming with all the names addresses, and phone numbers of the officers and other needed numbers. IT'S A GIRL! Dolls and buggies will decorate the home of Rich and Frankie Albright since the arrival of their daughter, Christine Lynn. Pretty Christine was born April 25 at St. Therese hospital in Waukegan and tipped the scales at 5 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19% inches long. Proud maternal grand­ mother is Ruth Schwan of Volo and proud paternal grand­ parents are Ray and Evelyn Albright of McHenry. Our congratulations to Rich and Frankie and a warm hello to baby Christine. GIRLS NIGHT OUT! The monthly girls card club got together last Wednesday night, this time at the home of Mary Pierce. After a time of playing cards, Mary served a scrumptious dessert much to the delight of all her guests who quickly jotted down the recipe. The first option was from Trust No. 3830 of the First National bank of Lake Forest for lot No. 30 of Block 14 in the Orchard Heights subdivision. This lot is contiguous to land previously purchased by the district known as the Indian Ridge-Fox River Conservation area.
