Suppose he has read about those enormous salaries being paid to athletes and has decided to try a comeback. Baseball has been described in many ways like a game of inches, but look at the box scores. It is still a pitcher's game. One day a top pitcher will stand the opposing batters on their collective ears. The next day a not so hot pitcher will get clobbered find a 20-game winner who throws from the wrong side. Left handed quarterbacks can be very confusing to other teams. Have also seen lefty basketball players who gave the defense some problems. Don't discourage your son if he is a natural southpaw. A fortune may await him in sports and now he can get a left handed pen to sign a big con tract. It's tough when you get your name on a mailing list that gets around to many places. The mails bring merchandise never ordered. Enclosed is a letter of appeal that is intended to make you feel like a heel if you don't send cash. Now come some ads that read "Send No Money". Minor League managers include Chuck Sowers, Roger Moore, Bob Ashby and Joseph Sullivan. Chapel Hill Golf One hundred golfers teed off at 9 a.m. Sunday in the Men's Best Ball Foursome at Chapel Hill Golf club. The team of Bill Fuiava the captain, along with Jack Worm, Gary Gilpin, and Howard Leonard won the handicap event with a 56, 14 under par. The award for closest to the pin on Number 8 went to Larry Lowery, and the straight drive on Number 11 went to John Bean, who by a matter of four inches won the prize. A butfet breakfast was served at 8 a.m. prior to the tee off. This is the first of many events that will be held for members throughout the season, and if they are as well run as the event on Sunday, it's going to be a gala time at Chapel Hill this summer. Twenty-six golf widows, in memory of their husbands early tee off time, were on the tee at 1 p.m. competing for the various prizes that would be awarded throughout the day. Their only concern was that they were observed teeing off, by the men folks who were sitting on the patio hashing over the scores, with a cup of cheer. It was a great day, and the genial Pro, John Bolton again did a bang up job in promoting the event. f.;iS SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY OFFER r r i ALL DRINKS * MON thru THUR 7 PM to 1 1 PM LOUNGE ONLY "EXCEPT CREAM DRINKS AND CORDIALS FRI & SA SPECIAI 'T > L / lOUNr 6 to 7 PM MJNGfc ONLY / > P R I C E !
