McHENRY 385-1424 Girls Softball At McHenry High With the growing interests in girls' sports, there are now two levels of softball at McHenry high school, frosh-soph and varsity. Members of the frosh-soph are: Christie Anderews, Mary Barry, Terri Bohlman, Marty Helfinstine, Judy Honning, Kathy Latimer, Debbie Pieper, Vicki Raab, Ruth Snyder, Patty Switzer, Dale Williams, Sue Wollert, Colleen Byrne and Sue Hacek. Game assistants are Leslie Walters and Dawn Beshke. The frosh-soph team is coached by Shelley Gray. „ " The first game of the season was played at Dundee. The frosh-soph season to date is 1-3 with games showing as follows: Dundee skinned a win over McHenry frosh-soph 13-12. Lake Forest beat McHenry 12-4 with Patty Switzer scoring two of the runs and Terri Bohlman having 6 stolen bases. Woodstock over McHenry 14- 4. Ruth Snyder with two of the runs and Terri Bohlman with a triple. McHenry's next home game was against Mundelein. McHenry frosh-soph recorded their first win of the season with a score of 19-18 over Mundelein. Dale Williams was tops in runs with five of the 19. Members of the varsity level are: Pat ChaDDel. Chris Con- nell, Debbie Freeland, Nancy Glick, Mary Koleno, Cathy Laver, GiGi Smith, Sharon Smith, Pat Stoffel, Marie Switzer, Vicki Switzer and Dawn Wilson. The varsity manager is Lora Jacobs. The varsity team is coached by Mrs. Osterman. The season record to date is 3-2. The varsity season started off with a loss to Dundee 18-8. Pat Stoffel had a homerun, Mary Koleno a double and Sharon Smith scored two runs. With all the jitters behind them, team work began to emerge as McHenry won the next three games in a row, beating Lake Forest 8-4. Pat Chappel had two doubles and scored two runs. Nancy Glick was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts. The next win was over Wauconda 17-1. McHenry stole 12 bases, while Wauconda could only get one. McHenry was defeated by Mundelein 7-1 with the only run by Nancy Glick. McHenry Frosh-Soph Tennis Squad Wins Cary Grove Tourney The Warrior Frosh-soph squad "netted" a hard fought victory Saturday. The decision was in doubt until the last match. Bob Bittermann and John Partenheimer had to defeat West Chicago by a margin greater than Dundee's doubles would defeat Cary Grove. The two frosh came through in the clutch with a 9-1 victory and Dundee downed Cary 6-4. Rich Sompel and Rich Backs were awesome for the Warriors. Soph Baseball Team Loses To Lakers, - 4-3 Undefeated Crystal Lake • , BOX SCORE sophomores ran their record to 16 and 0 for the season with a come from behind win over the McHenry soph's ball team on Tuesday by the score of 4 to 3. The young Warriors jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead in the second inning, and held at 3 to 1 going into the bottom of the seventh. However, the Tigers were not to be denied, and they pushed across 3 runs for the victory. Bennett Mayberry took the loss for the sophomores, and their record is now 9 and 8 on the season. MCHS Netters Make History In Loss To Carmel High Carmel high of Mundelein defeated the Warrior Netters for the first time in history Monday night as they won a close match 3 to 2.
