Ron Brooks My mother left this earth s ime years ago, but memories are clear and dear to me. For my part, they could also have a mother-in-law day. Mine was very special to me. They had an overflow crowd at McHenry Country Club as families took mothers out to dine. Suppose McHenry s other fine dining spots were also crowded. Dick and Emily Hester watched TV as some team from Chicago's north side played ball. It was a pleasant surprise to see Amy Lamphere and her Aunt Harriet up from Elgin to visit their old home town. Watched the Kentucky Derby and thought what great fun it would be to sit in that grand stand. Our opinion is that 15 horses leaving the gate are at least five too many. Some don't belong and others get boxed in hopelessly. PICKUPS: Chinese say: If you would condemn others, wait until you are old, very old. Into each life some rain must fall, but don't get caught in a downpour without an umbrella. Your landlord may give you a lease, but not on your life. Traffic is so heavy these days the only way to get across the street is to be born there.
