Games start at 6:30, and boys who play should be prompt. The next game will be Thursday, May 26, at McCullom Lake beach park against Lakeland Park. These boys really need your support, so let's show them tnat we really care whether they win or lose. For those boys who have not yet paid their fees; you will not be allowed to play after Tuesday if your fees have not yet been paid. Also, some of the young men Who sighed up and paid their fees have not shown up for practices. You must show up if the team is going to win any games, it takes a whole team to play1 a game. VISITORS Very welcome visitors at the Raycraft residence this week are Jackie's parents, Jim and Sue Ambrose, from Rogers, Akr. They're staying a week, so that they'll be here for all the graudations in the family. Lots of you will remember the Amroses', who were area residents for a long time before moving to Arkansas. DANGER I have been informed that our beloved swimmer's itch is back with us this year, and so swim at your own risk in McCullom Lake for a few weeks. GRADUATES Many village residents are ready to graduate from high school May 26, and they are all to be commended for their fine job. Some of those graduating are Cheryl Thacker, Ami Wolf, Linda Vick, John Penny, Dennis Suchor, and Dawn McKim. If I haven't listed your name, it's because I didn't get it from my informer. SHOWER On May 15, a bridal shower for Marge Orton was given by Jackie Raycraft and Rosemary Schachner. Jackie played hostess by herself, however, because Rosemary recently gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Marge and Richard Buckner will be married in June, and they were feted with a shower that was held during a real shower. It poured during the whole thing, but that didn't daunt the spirit of happiness during the shower. Guests at the party included maid of honor, Cindy Santini, bridesmaid, Betty Johnson, Marge's mom, her grand mother, Etelvina Mercardo, who is visiting from Panama for the wedding festivities, Marie Rogers and daughter Pam; Mrs. Dorothy Lorch, Sue DiSicco, Sue Olson, Diane Freund, Mary Maleska, Linda Griffin, Greta Widen, Joanne Orton, Marge's sister-in-law Evelyn Nellis with daughter Lynn, Mrs. Davis and daughters Sandy and Jan. McHenry County college will be an important part of the twenty-first annual McHenry Country Art Fair to be held June 3, 4 and 5 at Parkland Junior high school in McHenry. Fine art work from students of the college will form one of the major exhibits of the Fair. "There will be a variety of work - oils, watercolors, ceramic pieces, macrame, drawings in different media," stated Amy Hanson, Crystal Lake, chairman of this year's Junior college show. Fairly new as an exhibiting group in the Fair, the college puts on an outstanding show, It offers the public an opportunity to appreciate the fine talent in the area. Last year, ap proximately fifty students exhibited more than 136 en tries. Sponsored by the Woman's auxiliary to McHenry hospital, the County Art Fair offers resident McHenry county artists an excellent gallery in which to exhibit their creative efforts. Cash prizes are awarded to the top piece in each of the categories - pain ting, both transparent and opaque, three-dimensional, graphics, photography, and other. One of the main supports of the Fair are the patrons. Any interested person may pledge $5 toward the purchase of a painting and attend the patrons' preview before the Fair opens to the general public. Proceeds from the Fair are used to purchase new equipment for McHenry hospital McHenry county artists interested in participating may address a postcard to Mrs. Nicholas Gemell, 4313 New Hampshire trail, Crystal Lake. Photography entries may inquire to Jack Pepping, 3105 W. Virginia, McHenry. Theft Of CB Radio May Become Felony Tougher penalties are in store for persons convicted of stealing CB radios, automotive tape decks and car-mounted amateur radio equipment if legislation co-sponsored by Senator Jack Schaffer, R-Cary, is enacted into law. A bill to change theft of such equipment from a misdemeanor to a felony has been approved by the Senate Judiciary II committee and is currently awaiting action by the full Senate. "There is no question that the astronomical theft rate for CB radios, tape decks and ham radio equipment mandates some significant change in our criminal statutes," Senator Schaffer stated. "We are not dealing with a rash of crimes in a small area, we are faced with a national criminal epidemic brought on at least in part by an ever growing number of hard drug addicts who are trying to support habits costing as much as $150 a day." He noted the electronic automotive equipment is ideal for thieves because it is relatively easy to obtain, fence and resell, yet extremely difficult to trace. Under the terms of Schaffer's bill, SB 579, theft of such equipment from a car would cease to be a misdemeanor offense punishable under the Motor Vehicle code. Instead, it would become the Class 2 felony of burglary punishable under the state Criminal code. A Class 2 felony is punishable by one to twenty years in the state penetentiary, while a misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail. If approved by both houses of the General Assembly and signed into law by the Governor, the law wo^uld become effective Oct. 1.
