Helps In Overcoming Problems The La Leche league groups of McHenry and Fox Lake will meet this month to discuss "The Techniques of Breast­ feeding and Overcoming Difficulties". Breastfeeding is a simple, normal function - a natural system of supply and demand that best serves mother and baby. Mothers through the ages have happily nursed their babies. Breastfeeding has not become more complicated; only attitudes toward it have created problems. It was to help solve these problems that La Leche league came into being. Poor advice, criticism, or other problems may cause a mother to decide not to breastfeed or to end the nursing realtionship prematurely. At a La Leche league meeting, expectant mothers and nursing mothers can talk to other mothers who have successfully overcome problems and happily nursed their babies. The trading library is an ex­ cellent source of helpful in­ formation and encouragement. Nursing babies are always welcome. As the deadline for the McHenry County Dairy Princess contest draws closer, several entries are anticipated, Larry Harris, secretary- treasurer for the McHenry County Dairy Promotion council, said this week. Deadline will be June 1. Candidates will participate in the Harvard Milk day activities and prepare for June Dairy Month projects. Entry forms are available from Harris at the Farm Bureau building. For candidates who need a sponsor, Harris and members of the Dairy promotion council will arrange for them. Candidates must be between 17-22 years of age, a high school graduate as of June 30, and never married. They must live or have lived on a dairy farm. For exact qualifying rules, prospective candidates can obtain them from Harris. The 1977 Dairy banquet will be held at Andre's Steak House, Richmond, Wednesday, June 29. Judging will take place about a week before the banquet. ^ One June event will be the appearance before the McHenry County board at its June 21 meeting when the contestants are introduced to the twenty-four member board. They'll offer taste treats of cheese and milk during the morning milk break. Connie Hai4ison, reigning McHenry county Dairy prin­ cess, has been busy during May since returning from Illinois State university with dairy promotion projects. Connie has been making radio and television appearances and talking before civic groups. She plans to host a meeting for the new candidates before the Harvard Milk day ap­ pearance to brief them on their responsibilities and planned activities. Home Extension Board Members In First Meeting The McHenry County Home Extension association board members held its first meeting recently with all newly elected officers. Those in attendance and their new offices are Mrs. Lawrence Macheroux, co-first vice-president; Mrs. Fred Heider, co-first vice- president; Mrs. John Weter, second vice-president; Mrs. Robert Kreutzer, secretary; Mrs. Dean Marlowe, treasurer; Mrs. Robert Kubat, voluntary action; Mrs. Edward Weskerna, public information; Mrs. Edward Steck, in­ ternational; Mrs. Raymond Olbrich, citizen and safety; Mrs. Richard Jones, cultural arts; Mrs. Michael Kynel, Mrs. Loyal Neff and Mrs. Michael Hegedus, special activities. Mrs. David Steffen, President, and Mrs. Richard Wagner, 4-H Chairman, were not able to attend. Following the meeting, the new board, with Home Adviser Nancy Moore, hosted the outgoing members, Mrs. Gus Ritter, Mrs. Alan Dimon, Mrs. Paul Kruse, and Mrs. Smith Giles, at a luncheon at the Timbers in Woodstock. The next board meeting will be June 13 at 9:30 a.m. Chapter Holds Last Meeting Until August Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its meeting May 19 at 8 o'clock. The hostess for the evening was former president Mrs. Karen Colomer. Mrs. Fawn Vail, new president, opened the meeting. Committee chairmen were assigned for the coming year beginning in August. There will be no meetings through the summer. A discussion on the Marine day parade followed. The yardstick for this year was completed and will be mailed to the International office. Executive board and com­ mittee chairmen will meet June 30, at the home of Mrs. Fawn Vail at 8 p.m. with their respective reports for the coming year. Puerto Rico Honeymoon Trip For Newlyweds * A honeymoon trip to Puerto Rico followed the exchange of nuptial vows between Carrie Laine Cross and Richard Paul Kubetz, II, Saturday, May 21. Friends and relatives at­ tended the ceremony which took place in the Zion Lutheran church, McHenry, with the Rev. Herman Graef blessing the union at 3 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Cross of Round Lake and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Kubetz of Ingleside. Bows in mint shades decorated the pews and baskets of white flowers with mint bows were at the altar. The bride wore a floor length bridal gown of white sheer organza enhanced with chantilly lace over mist taffeta. The bodice was fashioned with a scoop neckline and long Juliet full sleeves. The bouffant skirt featured a full drape in the back and a chapel length train. Her headpeice was lace trimmed, Juliet style cap with an imported illusion lace edged veil. Sister of the bride, Donna A. Cross of Round Lake, attended as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Diane Kubetz of Ingleside, Jaimie Hecht, and Jill and Joy McNally, all of Round Lake. The attendants were gowned in mint polyester, floor length, sleeveless outfits with square necklines, gathered bodices and matching capes. Each wore a circle headpiece of ivy and stephanatios.
