RC Cola OR DIET RITE COLA • BARRELHEAD BEER •CANADA DRY FLAVORS 11 £ $ Witness Spokeman Regrets Activity Restriction Abroad There is a growing concern that human rights are threatened in a growing number of countries un dergoing internal changes due to revolution and political upheavals. s William Young, spokesman for Jehovah's Witnesses in the Woodstock-McHenry area, said his religious organization is now restricted in its activities in forty-seven countries throughout the world. Young said recent studies revealed people are subject to harassment and persecution due to race, religion, national origin and political affiliation. Young observed that in 1962 the General Assembly of the United Nations requested the Commission on Human Rights to prepare a declaration against religious intolerance. "At the same time," Young said, "it requested;^ a declaration against racial discrimination." Originally the Assembly requested a "Declaration"-on the Elimination of All Formfe of Regligious Intolerance." But the current title is different. It reads "Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance Based, on Religion or Belief." Young said "some rn^ght interpret this to cast religion or belief in the role of the <jne causing intolerance that needs elimination." The position of neutrality by Jehovah's Witnesses in> all nations is based on their, in terpretation of John 17:16 where Jesus states: "They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world." Thus the Witnesses do not involve themselves in political affairs. •, RECIPE By Sarah Ann Sheridan Meat loaf is a good budget extender and can be served once a week. , Meal Loaf V/i lbs. ground beef round 1 egg, slightly beatep 1 T minced onion salt 1 1/8 t pepper 1 \ 0 V i oz. can condensed Cheddar-cheese soup 3 t milk 2 c fresh bread crumbs '/j c chopped celery • V* C chopped dill pickle About 1 '/J hours before serving: In medium bowl, combine meat, egg, onion, V* teaspoon salt and pepper.
