Children thrive on ac complishment, and they need family and friends -- and, yes, even their dog -- to rejoice with them. Like Bill, we all thrive on ac complishment and want to share it with others. If we broaden this trait in human nature we will want to make the whole of our experience a living success. In Scriptures MtocteO by The American Brtjie Society doing so, we will fulfill our own ambi tions which God has planted deeply within us. But stark ambition is not enough, and God has given us the patience of love and understanding as well. What a combination! There is no set formula, but your church will put these assets in proper perspective. Now you can share -- now you can rejoice. Copynght 1977 Keister Advertising Service. A service of adult Con firmation was held recently at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church. 404 N. Green street. McHenry. Prior to the rite, the fifteen adult members of the class met with Pastor Roger Schneider for a brief period of study to review the basic teachings of the church. The service itself served as a climax to the classwork which prepared the members for an informed and meaningful membership. At an appropriate time in the worship service, the new members walked forward to the altar rail to receive the Confirmation blessing and a certificate of church mem bership from Pastor Schneider. At the conclusion of the service, the new members were greeted at the door of the church by the church membership. A reception in their honor will be held in the Fireside room of the church June 12 at 7:30 p.m., and is being planned by E v a n g e l i s m c o m m i t t e e chairpersons, Miriam Kenna and Walter Johnson. In 1974, 100.000 cases of child abuse and neglect were reported nationally. More than 7,700 cases of suspected abuse and neglect will be reported this fiscal year in Illinois alone. This is 1,000 more than last year and sixteen times the amount reported when the state's child abuse law was enacted in 1965. Experts believe this is only the tip of the iceberg. Child abuse is everyone's problem. It results in r u n a w a y s , j u v e n i l e delinquency, adult criminals, emotional and physical han dicaps (sometimes Hfe-Iong), and in some cases death. Abused and neglected children grow up to be teenagers and adults who are unable to love and trust other people. The cost to the taxpayer for treating these outcomes of abuse and neglect are great. The cost to society is even greater. Child abuse and neglect are treatable problems. With greater understanding of the problem everyone, layman and professional can assist in its prevention and treatment. » from ^'owftrwooJ the plant people Grow these beautiful bloominq plants in sun or shade?
