I never imagined my marriage would end with me not loving my husband and us both such totally different people. We tried everything. It almost seems that God Himself wants it this yyay because I prayed fop years for God to help me love my husband and stay with him. My husband still prays for a "miracle" before our divorce is final, that I will return to him. I no longer pray for God to work His will--I want to go. The tormenting question I have for you is this. Do I have any right to ask God for help in the days ahead when I am willfully leaving my husband? It is hard to have a "happy spirit" out of guilt-like I have no right to act happy when "look, what I have done!" Please answer. A. Perhaps you would do well to examine your motives in depth. It could be that you are unconsciously attempting to escape marriage and that possibly you could be one of those people who are not comfortable in the intimate and demanding relationship of marriage. However, your husband loves you and that is a precious possession not to be discarded lightly. One thing is sure; you can hardly expect to have what you call a "happy spirit" by running away. We have a booklet, The Secret Of A Happy Marriage, which has helped others with questions such as yours, and a copy of it is on its way to you. Anyone reading this column who wishes a free copy may write for one. Address your request to Dr. and Mrs. Peale, Box 500, Pawling, NY 12564. In Prison And Bitter Q. I have been in and out of prison most of my life, and believe me I know I have wasted a good many years doing it. I am presently serving a one-to-ten-year sentence for forgery, and I hope that it will be my last time behind bars. But if not I can only say I hope that someone may profit by my. blundering mistakes. It seems that everything I do or try to DIAL A PRAYER 385-1234 v. I have tried God but that soon played out too I'm not feeling sorry for myself, I'm just telling you LIKE IT IS. If there is anything that you could suggest that might prove beneificial I certainly would appreciate it. A. In our opinion your problem is that you have ac cepted yourself as you think you are. And as long as you continue to see yourself this way you will continue in and out of prison. You asked for a suggestion that might prove beneficial- and here it is. Start seeing yourself as a totally changed person: organized, controlled and successful. Develop a different and creative self- image. You can become in actuality what you see yourself as being. And don't give up on God so easily. He'll never give up on you. Daughter Intimate With Boyfriend Q. My daughter, 20, I just found out has been intimate with her boy friend. Our family doesn't condone this sort of thing. "Bring a child up in the way he should go...and he will never depart from it" isn't true any more. My daughter and her friend are around the house all the time. I can't live with this when I know it's wrong. Is it a sin? Should I tell her to leave if she won't stop? A. Despite *the current movies, magazines and books, intimate sex relations outside of marriage is still a sin. No matter how a reader may react to that statement, the fact remains that in Christian thinking such action violates the moral code, a code given out of God's wisdom to enhance^ not inhibit, human happiness. You are not required to allow a situation in which sinful practices are being carried on in your own home against your moral principels. Tell your daughter to cut it out or go elsewhere. You don't need to let her dominate you. Perhaps you would like to find an answer for yourself to a problem that you can share with others in There's An Answer! If there is something you would like to ask Dr. and Mrs. Peale to discuss in this column, write to them in care of Box 500, Pawling, NY 12564. Serving time is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sa&yyjr REMEMBER WHEN? - This picture shows what apparently served as a depot at Terra Cotta many years ago. Or maybe the man with cane in hand looking at sign isn't quite sure. A double track is evident, where today there is only one set, and in the background there appears to be some type of elevated structure that is not there today. Many readers would probably be interested in more information and an approximate date. The picture was given to the Plaindealer by John Meehan of 1004 W. Ringwood road, McHenry.
