Vet it occurs more than 150 times in the King James version of the Bible. "Behold" means to see. But it suggests more than mere sight. In the Bible it usually implies spiritual awareness. Jesus often used it to urge his disciples to understand and respond to spiritual truths. Today we say "Look!" instead of "Behold!" Although the word has changed, the meaning has not. We still need to be aware of God's love. We still need to grasp those mysteries of life that can often perplex us. This Sunday enlarge vour spiritual vision in church. Come and BEHOLD. Dated this sftth day of June, A.D. 1977. Vernon W. Kays Countyrierk (Pub. Jun 10. 24,1977) Know ± / T H £ People often say rioises are different just before arain. It's argued that horns, whistles, etc., are more clearly heard and that many sounds create what amounts to a sort of echo -before a rain Is there any scientific basis for such statements? Do sounds actually carry through the air more clearly before the arrival of rain? Though it may surprise some, these old say ings are true. When the weather is clear, there is no cloud roof above the earth. As rain threatens and clouds begin passing overhead, often lowering, the effect is one of a sound reflec tor and sounds often bounce back, so to speak, from this overhead layer of heavy clouds. The result is a sort of echo- sound, or a hollow sound, which carries farther, clearly, than the same sound does on a bright, cloudless day. Therefore, when familiar noises sound usually clear, or loud, and are heard great dis tances, it usually means the cloud ceiling or heavy moist air is lowering above you. And, when this happens, you are usually in for wet weather. So noises are different before a rain, after all. "How many times shall I bow?" said the novice at the amateur variety show. "Bow?" said the stage manager. "No bowing for you. You'll have to duck." RENT YOUR OWN STORAGE SPACE Lighted & Secure im GUETTLERS STORAGE 818 N. FRONT ST.
