With the spring and summer season comes time to talk about "something special" for the dinner table, or for snack time- something special that comes from the dairy counter. Ice cream, cheeses, chocolate milk, cold fresh milk to go with a cookie or piece of cake, yogurt, including (he highly popular soft frozen yogurt. . .that's what June Dairy month means to many people. In McHenry county, various segments of the dairy industry unite under the McHenry County Dairy Promotion council banner to talk about the virtues of dairy products and to celebrate the county's bountiful dairy production. Just ahead are several promotional efforts by Connie Harrison, reigning McHenry County Dairy Princess, and the nine daughters of county far­ mers who are candidates for that title in competition later this month. The Dairy Princess can­ didates appeared before the McHenry County board June 21, offering taste treats of cheese and milk during the mid-morning break. The candidates, as well as members of the Dairy Promotion council, are selling tickets to the annual Dairy banquet, scheduled June 29 at Richmond. That evening will reach its climax when the winning Dairy Princess can­ didate is crowned by Miss Harrison. The Dairy Princesses will also take part in a major event June 26«a Farm-City open house at the Norm Heinrich farm on Crystal Lake's nor­ thwest edge. Heinrich is the newly-elected president of the Dairy Promotion council. These are the McHenry County Dairy Princess can­ didates for 1977: 1. MECHAM GAYLORD PHOTOGRAPHY Blue And White Color Theme At June Wedding Bouquets of blue and white flowers at the altar of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, a bridal bouquet of blue car- • nations, white roses and baby's breath, and bridesmaids at­ tired in gowns of powder blue, carried out the color theme at the wedding of Lyn Ann Had- dick of McHenry and Robert Glen Mecham of Havana, 111. The Rev. Roger Schneider and the Rev. Ben N. Haddick, an uncle of the bride, officiated at the concelebrated service. Mrs. Rosemary Schneider at the organ accompanied vocalist Jim Boyd with selections including "Color My World" and "The Lord's Prayer" during the 2 o'clock ceremony held Saturday, June 18. The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Haddick of 1619 N. Beach road, McHenry. Her father is the late William Haddick. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Mecham, Jr. of 7709 Island Lane, Wonder Lake. The bride wore a floor length white satin gown fashioned with an Edwardian style neckline trimmed with lace and pearls, a contour waistline, full length organza sleeves, and lace trimmed cuffs and chapel length train. She wore a waist length double tier veil trimmed in lace and pearls attached to a tiara of white satin, lace and pearls. Gifts from the groom, opal earrings and necklace, were worn. Lynda Sue Haddick of McHenry attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Jeffrey (Diana) of McHenry, the bride's sister- in-law, and Patricia Ann Young of Rock Island, 111., a friend of the bride. Pamela Sue Fleming, a friend of the bride, will greet wedding guests at the door of the church. The attendents were dressed in floor length gowns of double knit trimmed in white lace with double cape sleeves and sweetheart necklines. They carried bouquets of white carnations and baby's breath and wore identical gold heart necklaces given as gifts from the bride. The bridal gown and bridesmaids gowns were made by the bride and her mother. The brother of the bride, James Allen Haddick, assisted the groom while Jeffrey William Haddick, the bride's brother of McHenry and Ed­ ward Richard Carl Peters of McHenry, a friend of the groom, acted as groomsmen. Ushering duties were carried out by Richard Cameron Davis, a McHenry friend of the groom, and Daniel Lee Ray of Rock Island, 111., a cousin of the bride. The bride's mother wore a floor length light blue flower- > appliqued silk organza gown with a sheer cape collar while Mrs. Mecham chose a blue polyester knit with a lace jacket. A champagne reception was held at Sasha's Crescent Bay landing for 150 guests with Miss Fleming passing the guest book. Shortly after the reception, the couple left on a honeymoon trip to the Wisconsin Dells with the bride wearing a peach colored full length dress. They will make their home at 203 E. Main street, Havana. The bride is a 1976 graduate of McHenry Community high school while the groom graduated from Woodstock high school in 1973. He is em­ ployed as assistant manager for Hornsby's stores, Inc., Havana. South Carolina Honeymoon For Bridal Couple Frank S. and Karen Judith (Hanahan) McClatchey are honeymooning at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, following their marriage Saturday, June 18. The Rev. Mathias Rauen officiated at the 3 o'clock ceremony in St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg. The bride's parents are Rep. and Mrs. Thomas J. Hanahan of 2012 W. Grandview drive, McHenry. The groom is the son of Frank McClatchey of McHenry and Mrs. Lawrence Rudolph, also of McHenry. The bride wore a traditional white full length gown with a long train. Her headpiece featured a blusher veil with a second veil the same length as the train. Patricia Boarini of Pistakee was maid of honor to her friend while Connie Hanahan and Monica Davis, both of Sun- nyside, and Mary Olszak of Crystal Lake, were bridesmaids. The attendents were gowned in mint green floor length dresses with dotted Swiss on the ruffles and sleeves. The groom was attended by Kenneth Schanlin of McHenry as best man with David Hanahan of Sunnyside, Dave Wickenkamp and Michael Morreale, both of McHenry, and Ron Weed of California, acting as groomsmen. The mothers of the bride and groom both wore full length gowns, the bride's mother in mint green. Approximately three hun­ dred to four hundred guests greeted the couple at Andre's Steak House in Richmond following the ceremony. The couple plan to make their home in McHenry. The attendents were gowned in lace trimmed dresses with empire waistlines in light blue polyester voile with a flocked floral pattern. They wore hats with sheer ripple brims, trimmed with material to match the dresses and carried bouquets of blue daisies and white button mums. The flower girl wore an identical Tlress and wore a ring of blue daisies and white mums in her head. She carried a basket of the same flowers. The groom chose Dan J us ten of McHenry to handle best man duties while Curt and Gary Rosing of Johnsburg, both brothers of the bride, Kenny Justen of McHenry, the bride's cousin, amd Ray Morgan of Tulsa, Ok. were groomsmen. A cousin of the groom, Rusty Hopp of McHenry, was ring bearer while ushers consisted of Jeff Thompson, the bride's cousin, and George Lauer, the groom's brother, both of McHenry. Mrs. Rosing chose a pale pink quiana floor length gown with a coverlet long sleeved jacket while the groom's mother wore a yellow polyester voile full length gown with a matching jacket. Approximately three hun­ dred guests extended congratulations to the bridal couple at the Johnsburg Community club following the ceremony. After a honeymoon trip to a Pocono mountain resort in Pennsylvania, the couple will be residing in the bride's great grandmother's home on Green street in McHenry. The bride and groom both attended McHenry Community high school and the groom is employed at Precision Twist Drill, Crystal Lake. Mother's Gown- Headpiece Worn By June Bride. Escorted by her father and wearing her mother's wedding gown and headpiece, Doreen Rosing placed a bouquet at the altar of the Blessed Virgin before joining her bridegroom, Kurt Lauer, Jr. at the main altar of St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry. The 2:30 p.m. ceremony "took place Saturday, June 18, in the same church where her parents had exchanged nuptial vows twenty-two years ago. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rosing of 2410 W. Mehring avenue, Jak- Ana Heights, Johnsburg. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Lauer, Sr. of 1600 N. Ramble road, McHenry. The Rev. William Schwartz officiated over the exchange of marital promises with the bride's cousin. Mike Thompson of McHenry, acting as com­ mentator. Musical selections included "Ave Maria", "Ode To Joy", "Prayer Of St. Francis", and "On This Day". The bridal gown was of traditional white fashioned of full length skinner satin with an overskirt of rose point lace trimmed with sequins and pearls. The sleeves and bodice were of lace and the dress featured a chapel length train. The fingertip veil of rose point lace was attached to a seed pearl crown. She carried a bouquet of white roses and ivy. A close friend of the bride, Mary Jurczynski of Johnsburg, attended the bride with Sue Esquivel, a Richmond friend of the bride, and Ginny, Cathy, and Debbie Lauer, the groom's MR. AND MRS. W. BRET JACKSON BRIDE DESIGNS DRESS-Wearing a wedding dress she had designed and made. Crista J. Chappell became the bride of W. Bret Jackson, Saturday, June 4, in the First Baptist church of McHenry. The grandfather of the groom, AE Nikkei, officiated at the 10:30 a.m. ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Virgie and Lois Chappell of Algonquin while the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jackson of McHenry.
