HUPPY & LEO'S REMAINS WINLESS Chuck's Towing acquired 1tS\_ second victory of the season, ting winless Huppy & Leo's -2. Chuck's scored all the runs it ieeded in the second inning, tallying four times. The losers scored twice in the third inning, but that was all the offense the losers could muster, as Cathy 'Freund pitched an outstanding game for the winners. Chuck's was paced of fensively by Lonnie Reames who went 3-for-3 at the plate. Defensively, Peggy Dennis and May Fuiava turned a nifty double play in the fifth inning to help keep Huppy & Leo's off the scoreboard. 6TH INNING RALLY KEYS R.D.G. VICTORY Residential Development Group scored two runs in the sixth inning to nudge Old Bridge 14-12 and remained tied with Bit-O-Blarney for first place in Division "A". R.D.G. jumped out to a 4-2 first inning lead, and the winners maintained the lead until the top of the sixth, when Old Bridge scored five runs to tie the game up 12-12. R.D.G. then scored the two decisive runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the triumph, its fourth against no defeats. In defeat, several Old Bridge performers stood out. Mary Martin pounded a three-run homer, her first of the year, and Joyce Zoiss and Alice Hoffman helped keep Old Bridge close with spectacular catches in the field. . HITTING, DEFENSE PACE WOODEN NICKEL Wooden Nickel picked up its second victory of the year in Division "B" play, downing the Chalet 11-1. The winners had their bats booming, with several women contributing to the victory. Chris Gade was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a second inning double which drove in two runs. Sue O'Heir had a perfect day at the plate, 4-for-4, and chipped in with an RBI. Also, Mary May knocked in a pair of runs in a big seven-run third inning which insured the victory. Not to be outdone by her teammates, Kim Hueman knocked in two runs with a hit in the fourth inning to close out the Wooden Nickel scoring. The Chalet could only tally a single run in the third inning, after which time the Wooden Nickel defense took over, stopping all Chalet threats, 3RD SHUTOUT FOR - BRAKE PARTS For the third time in four games this year, Brake Parts recorded a shutout win, this time blasting the Fireside Inn 26-0. Brake Parts, which is cruising alone atop the Division "B" standings, pounded out three home runs in the lopsided contest, including a grand-slam shot by Linda Santler in the fourth inning. It was Ms. Santler's third home run of the season. Also striking circuit blows were Cheryl Patterson, her first, and Dorothy Kupstis, her third. Brake Parts put the game away early, scoring six runs on seven hits in the first inning. One of the hits was Ms. Kupstis' homer. In the second, Brake Parts scored ten runs on eleven hits before the Fireside Inn could even record an out. The winners added five runs on seven hits in the third inning, and poured five more across in the fourth, including Ms. Santler's grand-slam. Diane Wilson had a perfect, day at the plate for Brake Parts, going 5-for-5, while winning pitcher Linda Lent allowed on two Fireside Inn hits in the entire game. ED'S RENTAL TIPS FOX HOLE PIZZA In the closest game of the week, Ed's Rental thwarted a Fox Hole Pizza rally with a double play in the seventh and final inning, and used timely hitting to eek out a 14-10 victory and remain one game behind Brake Parts in the Division "B" standings. Fox Hole jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, but the winners exploded for four runs in the third, and five runs in the fourth to make the game close. The contest was tied 10-10 after five frames, before Ed's Rental tallied three times in the sixth and once more in the seventh to insure the win, its third against one loss. It was Ed's Rental's defense in the lattr7 innings which secured the victory, with Kathy McBreen starting the key double play in the bottom of the seventh inning zo stifwe a budding rally. Butch Meyer pitched and more importantly hit (2 homeruns, 7 RBI's going 4-7) to lead O'Brewery. Terry Reilly's grandslam homerun kept The Chalet close in game one but Meyer's pair of 2 run homers made up for the 4 run clout. In game two a 5 run third over came a 4-0 Chalet lead and that was all the Brewery needed in copping their ninth straight. St. Regis met Old Bridge in a contest billed "game of the week". After 'the shooting' was over both sides claimed one victory. Regis took the first game 8-5 as centerfielder Don Prazak threw 2 runners in a row out at home during an Old Bridge rally which failed to produce a run in the sixth in ning. Prazak also went 4 for 4 with 3 runs and a pair of RBI's. In game two Hawk McQueeney threw out an Old Bridge runner trying to score from third but 11 runners did make it as the Bridge won 11-4. Tom Les, Old Bridge outfielder, threw a strike to Greg Freund covering home to put out a Regis runner with Freund sailing nearly 10 feet through the air after the collision! Rusty Nail nearly took game one of a doubleheader versus McHenry Hospital too lightly as they scored just 7 runs but it was enough as Bill Huff's knuckler kept the Hospital hitters at bay. The Hospital scored 3 runs in the 7-3 loss. In game two McHenry Hospital scored 3 runs in the first two innings but the Rusty Nail went to work right away this game. They held a 7-3 lead after two innings and increased that lead to 15-5 by games end. For the Nail the twin wins made it 7 in a row and also rose them into second place all alone. Gary Schmitt has been hitting of late going 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's in cluding a homerun in the first game. In game two Bill Huff had a perfect 4 for 4 as did Dave Sundby as the two combined for 2 doubles, 3 homeruns and 12 RBI's. Schmitt added another homerun as did the Hospital's Larry Sweeton, swatting a two run blast in the sixth. Indian Ridge Manor climbed out of a rut to take two wins over Rhino's. In game one the Manor unleashed a 23 run scoring attack as Rhino's managed but a lone run in the first. In game two the Manor led 10-hafter four innings and substituted freely as Rhino's narrowed the gap to 11-8 by game's end. Jim Freres and Chuck Marke drove in 5 runs each in game one with Marke doubling twice and Freres going 4 for 4 with a homerun. Games Set for June 22 Doubleheaders this Wed nesday include Indian Ridge Manor versus McHenry Hospital behind the West Campus tennis courts. Look for the Manor to continue to roll versus McHenry Hospital . . . but do not count on two easy wins; the team in last can never be taken for granted. The Chalet meets Old bridge in a rematch of their season opener in which the Bridge outlasted their opponents 19-18. Could be a close game played at West Campus next to the parking lot. St. Regis takes on Rhino's and this doubleheader played behind East Campus should see Regis increase their won-loss mark to 9 and 3. The game of the week will be played at Petersen Park where the only team which has beaten O'Brewery this year, Rusty Nail, takes on the first place Brewery. O'Brewery on the other hand has beaten every club in the league but Rusty Nail. Kevin Bauer's team has been sharpening their skills with tournaments every weekend so they should be ready for this important showdown. The games between the first and second place ball clubs begin at 6:15 p.m. as do the other three contests so go see the 12-inch game of your choice this Wednesday.
