PAGE6-PLA1NDRAI.FR - FRIDAY. JULY 1, 1§77 EARL WALSH So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR Pear Friend Earl. Just waiting for the "Slow Sox" to build up a comparable lead in the "Junior" League. Respectfully submitted. Old Jerry Miller You mention the "Junior" league, Jerry. One of these days you will be warbling something about youth must be served. ~ My Sox may be slow in a couple of spots ~ but, they are sure. I'm not going to ask you to hold your breath until we build up a big lead. We plan to come down the stretch with a burst of speed and win by a nose. In stead of slow, you can call us the Seattle Slew Sox. How about signing up for a seat in one of the buses that George Worts will be running to Comiskey Park for the World Series? Cubs won. Herb called. In looking for pitching help for our Sox, Eddie Bimbo said to forget about "Sore Arm Houlihan ', pitcher for the Bombed Bimbo s machine. Highly polished floors will always scare me. One time I called at a home. introduced myself and was invited in by the lady of the h d u s e . " J V Holy smokers! I stepped on a small rug and skidded across the floor almost into the lady's arms. Pat Wirtz left a note to let us know the 16 inch Softball stars will meet the 12 inch stars next Tues., night, July 5,7:30p.m. at the V.F.W. diamond. Saw the stars play last year and saw an enthusiastic crowd watching the fast action. There will be two games, one with the 16" ball and one with the 12". Either way, those big boys have fun. So will you. With an early deadline because of the coming holiday, it is necessary to get three sports sections ready this week. f I don't know which way I'm going, but I'm on the way. Press Time And Pressed: Some sports copy will be held over for the next issue. As they say in the Big Time -- "Cir cumstances Beyond our Control". In the baseball traveling league, games scheduled for this week will be over before Friday's issue. Reduce Risk Gonad shields can help protect the reproductive or gans from unnecessary radi ation during diagnostic x- rays. Because shielding is not widely practiced, the Food and Drug Administra tion believes patients can take an active part in en couraging proper use. When an x-ray of the lower abdo men, lower back, hip, or thigh is required, the patient or the patient's parent should ask whether a gonad shield can be used. However, pa tients should not insist on shielding because in some cases it may interfere with the x-ray view sought in the examination--especially for females. IT. SI N.
