*) '.".ft • s» • '• Grandma Sez ^0 There's somethin a botherin' this granny, along wi' a lot o' better informed folks, too. A listenin' V a len'thy documentary, t'other evenin*, it made this granny's hair rise at th' nape o' me neck, t' hear that, wi'out consideration f'r th' opinion o' the rest o' us, all o'er Seems t' this elder, somewhere along th' line, somethin's a missin ' in th' growin' up o' our younguns. Only th' grandparents 're able t' pass on th' little things, t' posterity, an' wi' so many put away in so-called "Rest Homes", these days, 'stead o' livin' wi' th' families, th" grandchildren 're missin' some o' th' best part o' their lives, an' our society 's reflectin' th' results o' two 'r three generations, wi'out th' in fluence o' th' "Grand" generations. Experience has marked th' lives o' us who've lived through many years, most o' us havin' a hard time t' get through th' hard times, wars, an' sorrows. Th' lessons we've learned weren't all from our own effort. We took much o' th' examples set by our elders. Seems that so many younguns, these days, leave home, a goin' their way alone, far from loved ones. Many make it, but wi' th' in fluences we put up wi' in these times, thousands o' young folk make grave mistakes. A gittin' back t' th' effect o' th' moon on this ol' world, there's a lot t' be learned, 'r relearned, about th' influence on us humans. Most folks make light o' it, but th' theories ha' lasted thousands o' years. So, this granny's a prayin' that they don't despoil th' lovely, silvery moon. What'd lovers do wi'out it, an' jist p'haps, this ol' world might be adversely af fected. th' globe, scientists 're con- templatin' invadin' th' properties o' th' moon, f'r use o' minerals, etc. That ol' moon has more effect on th' face o' this earth 'n most folks 're aware of, an' th' results o' changin' it, robbin' it o' materials which may be th' means t' destroy in' vegetation, as we know it, all o'er th' world. Do we always ha't' depend on hind-sight o' our gover'ment. Havin' followed, diligently, o'er th' years, th' effect o' moon-phases, in actual ex periment wi' me own' gar- denin', an' heedin' me father's words in relation t' that ol' moon, this granny learned that it really works. All me doubts ha' been, long ago, dispelled, an' workin* wi' th' natural influences, th' reward has been gratifyin'. Now-a-days, folks depend on fertilizers, an' ha' contributed t' much o' th' pollution. A talkin' about th' moon, t'other evenin', recallin' things me father told me, many years ago, mention o' th' Man in th' Moon's lady, disclosed that most o' th' folks, gathered there, had no knowledge o' her. So, we went outside, an' a bein' th' night o' th' full moon, Granny pointed out the profile o' th' pretty gal, 'way up there, a lookin' up at her man.' F'r those who ne'er saw th' Man in th' Moon wi* his lady, ye wait f'r a full moon, an' at th' lower right hand side o' th' circle, look close an' find a lovely feminine profile, a gazin' upward toward her man. After th' astronauts were a walkin' about, up there, this ol' lady took a gander at th' lovely silvery sphere, a checkin't' see if they'd spoiled anythin', but there they were, same as always, the Man an' his lady in th' moon.
