Pat Wirtz Tuesday brought the final round of the four-week Match Play tournament for the ladies at McHenry Country club and with it emerged the winners in the various classes. In Class A it was Nell Fidler over Liz Nolan. In what at first ap peared to be a tight match with both women even at the turn, the victory went easily to Tiger Nell. With Liz running into water probelms on the 10th and then developing a case of headitis, Nell swept through the first four holes on the back, tied on the 14th and closed Liz out on the 15th. A tighter match took place in Class B between Carla Wright and Bernice Dolce with Carla emerging the winner by two holes. Also winning by two holes .was Marge Blomquist over Gloria Ott in Class C. Probably the tightest match took place between Marcella / Wakitsch and Jean Remke in Class.D. Tied at the end of nine, Marcella took the 10th on a stroke hole. The next six holes were played head on with no give on the part of either player. Taking the 17th, Marcella assured herself of the match and became the winner. Not allowing any frosting on the cake, however, Jean dropped a long one from off the green on 18 for a par while Marcella had to settle for a bogie. Running concurrently with Match Play was the Con solation tournament. In Class A it was Anna Johnson over Carol Cooney, Mabel Smith over Lou Roels in a sudden death on the one extra hole in Class B, Barb Leitght over Carol Seese in Class C and Betty Gossell over Toots Gerstad in Class D. Big congratulations go to all the winners in both tour naments. In addition to the skill involved a word of admiration is to be extended for the stamina and perserverance exhibited by all the par ticipants who played in the intense heat. A breakdown on/the point scoring and team stan ding will be forthcoming at a later time. Tuesday, the 26th has been set aside for the ladies' annual Hullabaloo Day so next week's report will not contain the usual coverage. Some of the gals are endeavoring to dig into the past and come up with a mini- history on Hullabaloo. When their research is completed it will be submitted herewith. Only one birdie was registered for this Tuesday. It was by Carol Cooney on No. 16. Betty Gossell did chip in on No. 10 to save an extra putt. The most interesting and skillful par recorded for the day was executed by Alvina Yopp who .put her drive in the creek on No. 8 only to sink the lay-out approach for her three. Great going, Alvina! That about wraps it up for now. 'Til next time. Happy Golfing! Liz known today. On June 7, Dr. Robert Boulet, 43, of Larose, La., pleaded guilty to the charge before U.S. Magistrate Ingard O. Johan- nesen of New Orleans. Boulet told the judge that he and two companions, one of whom was a member of the Tulane University skeet team, wanted to shoot ducks as practice for an upcoming national n|eet. Judge Johannesen said that was a very poor excuse and that he should ordinarily sentenced to at least 11 days jail. However, because the were full and there was place to put Dr. Boulet, judge accepted the defense attorney's suggestion that Dr^. Boulet hold an open clinic. ) .jat i and -4 •If T Commission Approves Funding For Projects The Northeastern Illinois Planning commission (NlPC) has endorsed funding requests for two county projects, with the applications now being forwarded to appropriate federal agencies for final ap proval.
