(To Help Each Other Smile) en­ joyed a delicious buffet dinner at a local restaurant and then went back to the First United Methodist church for the meeting. There was a short period of meditations, and then a most interesting game was played which took concentration and memory. Prizes were awarded the top winners. Hostesses Betty Richardson and Mae Stinespring thdn served very delicious refresh­ ments. The next meeting and dinner for T.H.E.O.S. will be Tuesday, Aug. 30, meeting at the First United Methodist church at 5:3Q p.m. "'W-' - ; m New "Smile** Group July Dinner Meeting T.H7EO.S. is a warm, friendly group, non- denominational, for widows and widowers, meeting the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m., eating dinner together and then sheriff fellowship, and usually a devotional period. Members have been able "To Help Each Other Smile" by sharing experiences and supplying needed information and support. Kathy, who lives in > Decorah, la., is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Metvin Ehredt of ' Round Lake. Her fiance of Madison, Wis.. Is the son of Mr. and ;-Mrs. Leo Jorgensen of Ringsted, la. Kathy Is a 1978 graduate of Luther college where she is employed. John Is a 187S graduate of 3he same college and is presently a graduate student and research >ssistant at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Phalin Family T°Pic Reunion Sunday The seven brothers and sisters of the John Phalin family enjoyed their first reunion last Sunday, held in the city park. In all, there were 125 in attendance, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Edna Knox, Thomas Phalin, George Phalin and Marjorie Mahoney, all of McHenry, Howard of Wilmette, Harold of Waukegan and Ruth Anderson of DesPlaines. Others came from as far as Afghanistan, Arizona, Virginia, California, Tennessee, and in Illinois from Westchester, Bloomingdale, Elk Grove V i l l a g e , S c h a u m b u r g , Bollingbrook, Crystal Lake and Chicago. Women Offer Fine Program The McHenry County Christian Woman's club will hold a luncheon Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Martinetti's restaurant on Rt. 14, Crystal Lake. Reservations are essential and cancellations necessary by calling Mrs. Warren (Lorraine) Monahan. A special feature will be the Nancy Heimer Imports, Trade Winds Cove. Mrs. Nancy Carlson of Evergreen Park will be the speaker. She is an ac­ complished musician, mother and teacher. There will be a free nursery from 11:30 to 2:30 at the crystal Lake Evangelical Free Church, 290 W. Crystal Lake avenue. Reservations necessary. The club will hold a summer prayer coffee for McHenry County area women, Aug. 3, at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Jolene Frazier, 948 Sheffield Ct. Crystal Lake. The McHenry group will meet Aug. 11; the Fox Lake group, Aug. 10. Both meetings are at 8pjn. ^ W • s La Leche league , is : an organization of women in­ terested in breastfeeding. It offers information, moral support, mother-to-mother contact, and help with breastfeeding problems. Each group has a lending library available for participants to use. All women interested in breastfeeding are^n vited; babies are always welcome with their mothers. For further information call Heather (Mrs.\ Walter) Carpenter in Fox Lake, or Mary (Mrs. Gerald) Chatham in McH take the entire family, parishioners of St.John's Catholic church suggest the scenic countryside of the Johnsburg area. They invite the public to join them in the festivities of the chureh's an­ nual family picnic scheduled Sunday, Aug. 14. A delicious, sit-down dinner will be served by hostesses attired in German attire. They will give special attention to children under 8 invited to eat free of charge. Good food, soda, beer, ice cream, homemade desserts, a vegetable stand and country store will round out the at­ tractions to satisfy hearty appetites. Activities planned are numerous. There will be supervised £ames and prizes for the young folks, as well as pony rides and carnival type games. Contests for all ages will be provided. Sports, square dances and a polka band are all in the plans. Hold Garden Party At Island Lake August 17 Wednesday, Aug. 17, is the date of the Island Lake Woman's club's annual sum­ mer garden party and lun­ cheon. This annual party has been very popular in the past and is anticipated eagerly by many who attend eveiy year. The location will be at the home of Helen Larski, program chairman of the club, at 4621 Giant Oaks drive, Giant Oaks subdivision. Notices will be posted along the way to assist any who are unfamiliar with the area. In case of really adverse weather conditions it will be held at Hard hall in the Community Congregational church of Island Lake. Luncheon will be served at noon, with card playing following. Table prices will be awarded, as well as special prizes. For tickets please contact any member of the club or call Mrs. Helen Mikulic, Ways and Means chairman, at 538-7186. Mothers Of Twins Club Plan Party The Double Dilemma Mothers of Twins dub will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at the home of Bernita Nesbitt, 719 Dartmoor drive, Crystal Lake. This month a game party has been planned and mothers are invited to enjoy a night out with others of multiple birth children. It is also announced that the Double Dilemma annual picnic will be hdd Thursday, Aug. ll at 10 a.m. in Barrington park. Children are invited so pack a lunch and have a fun time. The dub is open to ail mothers with multiple birth children.
