I#77 The officers of Court Joyce Kilmer, No. 573, Catholic Daughters of American, met recently to formulate plans for the activities of the coming year and to appoint the various chairmen and committees. Special events will include the fall public card party Oct. 6, which the officers always organize, and a Day of Recollection Oct. 18 at Resurrection center, Ridgefleld, with Mary Freund as chairman. Details will be announced shortly. On Oc. 16, a Mass will be celebrated, along with Masses all over the country, in honor of National Catholic Daughters day. The place and time will be announced later. On Oct. 20 recognition of charter mem­ bers is scheduled with Helen Nuber and Laverne Lamz named as co-chairmen. Chairmen of the annual Christmas party to be held Dec. 15 will be Eleanor Freund and Martha Cossey. The Valentine party chaired by Mary Jean Lahs will be Feb. 16, 1978. In charge of the annual spring public card party April 6 will be the officers of the court. The court's yearly Mass, Communion and breakfast will be May 7, with Ramona Raebon and Veronica Romkowski as chairmen. The Mothers day banquet is tentatively set for May- 15, the location to be arranged. Alvera Nye and Catherine Clark were chosen as ^co-chairmen of this event. The last special event on the calendar will be the pot-luck supper June 15, with Marie Larkin and "Rita Martin ap­ pointed as chairmen. • Other chairmen . appointed were Helen Grenkowitz, the Sept. 15 regular meeting; Mildred Dempsey for the Nov, 17 meeting and Bobby May, the Jan. 19 meeting. Chairman of the March 16 meeting will be Frances Widhalm, while Susanna Marshall will chair the April 20 meeting. Sue Wruck was named as chairman for May 18. Members of the various corimittees will be notified and publicized during the year. Regent Mary Agnes Hart- mann informed the officers present that the court will welcome the Rev. Dorrance E. Tranel of Christ the King rectory in Wonder Lake as its new chaplain, having been appointed by His Eminence Arthur J. O'Neil, Bishop of the Rockford diocese. , The new officers for l«f7-1978 are regent, Mary Agnes/ Hartmann; vice-regent Bertilla Freund; second vice- regent, Mary Freund; secretary, Oleva Clucas; treasurer, Marian Kauth financial secretary, Clar Slegar; and Monitor, Jeanne Driscoll, organist is Dorothy Weber. The Lamaze Mothers of the McHenry County Lamaze Parents organization will be hostessing a "get acquainted" tea for the members and all new and previous Lamaze mothers, friends, and children Tuesday, Aug. 9. It will begin at 10 a.m. at Mary Smyth's home 281 Berkshire drive in Crystal Lake. There will be a short business meeting to discuss the disbursements of funds and gifts to local hospitals for their Obstetric and Pediatric departments. These gifts are made possible by the fund­ raisers that the organization sponsors throughout the year. The goals of the Mother's Group are to provide knowledge in the art of mothering and parenting as well as providing camaraderie and support to new mothers. The mothers sponsor monthly meetings, teas and a Mother Help Line to carry out these goals. The organization is affiliated with the Northern Illinois * chapter of ASPO (American Society for Psychoprophylaxis in Obstetrics), a national Lamaze organization for doctors, nurses, teachers, midwives, and parents. The March classes of Marie Walters and Lila Keller will be meeting at Mary Smyth's for a reunion shortly before the Aug. 9 tea.
