After spending the first night in Lexington, Ky., they arrived in Gatlinburg, Tenn. There they took a tramway car into the mountains where they dined 1n Old Heidelberg castle in an authentic German restaurant with waiters dressed in German costumes and an "oom pah pah" babd entertaining the visitors. Outside, summer skiing lessons were available with something artificial doing the work of the snow. A popular attraction in Gatlinburg was Clingman's dome, a 6,643 foot elevation, fascinating, but a tiring walk. Next came Laurel - falls, beautiful with the sun shining through.' They also saw Ripley's "Believe It or Not museum" and a wax museum. After leaving Tennessee, the Scheibs traveled the Blue Ridge parkway through North Carolina and Virginia and on to Rio Grande, Ohio, where they spent some time at the Bob Evans farm There they saw a farm museum, animals of all kinds, a general store, slave cabin, a restaurant with delicious food which they all enjoyed, but passed on the canoe trip through the trails. With many memories of an eventful week, the Scheibs arrived home in time for Kurt's birthday celebration Aug. 27. GARDEN CLUB PICNIC The annual picnic for the Wonder Lake Garden dub was held in August and co-hosted by Ms. Alice and Leta Clark at their home. A tour had been planned of their nature con­ servation area but the weather was not in accordance and it rained on and off all day. Hie picnic ended up as a buffet and _ our members and guests outdid themselves with delicious homemade goodies that could rival any goUfmet! Our hostesses were absolute gems to have us share their home and see pictures of their recent travels. One of the members said, "This is such fun: Can't we have a luncheon every mon­ th?"
