Congratulations and many happy returns of the day to each couple. SADNESS STRIKES Everyone was shocked and appalled when they heard of the untimely death of young Lisa Slusser. Just about everyone feels sadness and rage When something that brutal happens. Sadness for the victim and her family and rage at the one who could do something that terrible, but somehow it always seems worse when you know a relative of the viotim, which in Lisa's case is her great aunts and great uncle, Ruth Kroncke, formerly of Lilymoor, Ruth's sister, Dorothy, and Dorothy's husband, Fred Kroncke, all of the McHenry area. By way of this column I would like to express con­ dolences to all of the KrOnckes and to Lisa's family. DRIVE CAREFULLY Now that the fall school term has begun, small, medium and big children will be waiting on corners for school buses. In the waiting process some of them get restless and run back and forth across the road not realizing the dangers. AH drivers are cautioned to be on the lookout for children and to drive careful enough that they can "stop on a dime" to avoid a disaster or tragedy. In some cases children don't think of dangers so drivers must. There will be women taking the census, and if you are unsure about their identity, please feel free to ask to see their credentials. The reason the census is being taken is to ascertain the correct population of the village of McHenry Shores because the village receives approximately $60 per year for each person residing here. (It does not matter that the in­ dividual is a grandmother' living with the family, etc. All those who reside in the village should be counted.) The money received by the village is in the form of motor fuel tax monthly allotments, Illinois state income tax monthly allotments, and revenue sharing.
