Members of Boy Scout Troop 145 will be working along with the McHenry County Defenders by providing the labor on Saturday to unload cars and to take care of the bundled newspapers, clean bottles and flattened all-steel cans and all- aluminum products that are brought in. There will be a second paper truck to receive only the clean newspaper bundles, with no cardboard or magazines in cluded. The first truck will be used for the mixed papers, magazines, and cardboard. The McHenry County Defenders ^re reminding recyclers th&t there will be a great deal of truck space available, so if citizens plan to get rid of bundles of newspapers, stacks „ of magazines, or flattened board buhdles that have been sitting around for a long time, now is a good time to do it. Everyone is asked to try to keep bundles of newspapers free of any magazines, plastic or cardboard. The McHenry County Defenders encourage everyone to buy their beverages in returnable bottles. The cost per ounce is less and the en vironment benefits from use of returnables. Millions of gallons of oil are used daily in the production of the one-way throwaway container. The bi metal cans that most beverages come in cannot be recycled andmust be disposed of through' regular trash removal. Anyone having questions regarding the recycling drive is asked to call the McHenry County Defenders represen tative, Mrs. Wm. (Alice) Howenstine, or the Boy Scout Troop 145 representative at 653- 9550. Calico, female, 3 months, litter trained. Golden Tiger, 3 months, 1 male, 1 female, litter trained. Wasting Gas In highway driving, changing speed repeatedly by as little as five miles an hour can waste as much as 1.3 miles per gallon. The best economy occurs at speeds of between 30-to-40 miles an hour--with no rapid speed changes. For each five miles per hour over 50. you lose one mile per gallon of gas. An average idling car uses a cup of gas every six minutes. When yqu stop your car. don't let it idle for more than one minute. P.O.BOX 143 McHENRV.
