MEMBERSHIP NIGHT The Beach Gals will be sponsoring a membership night Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m., at the beach house. If you are new in the village, or if you've lived here for a while and never had the chance to check us out, why not come down and have a really fun evening with us. There will be refreshments and games, and some really special entertainment is planned. Don't be shy ladies, we'd really love to see you down at the beach house on Wednesday night. VILLAGE BOARD At the village board meeting held Tuesday, Sept. 13, items of interest to villagers were discussed, and, for a change, several villagers were in at tendance. As some of you may have noticed, we have a new patrolman during the day in the village. He is the new CEDA policeman, and he is on duty during the daylight hours, which gives me a really good feeling. Knowing that someone is available when help is needed makes one feel really secure, and from the looks of • the only fuel you'll ever notd for (toNcious charcoal' flavored cooking. The village also has a new maintenance man, who has been doing a really terrific job getting things in order around the park and beach and the village in general. Some of you may have noticed that it's easier to find your way home because the street signs have been put back up. The main tenance man is also from CEDA, and we're really glad he is here. More lighting is being in stalled in the big beach house, it was announced at Tuesday night's meeting. This should be done in the near future, and will make the big beach house much better for all the activities it houses. HOWDY We're happy ' to welcome Karen, Todd, and Tara Parks back to our village. Everyone was sad to see them go a while back, but they're here again, and we're glad. The Parks are residing on Parkview avenue. TURN ONS 1 g ARE YOU < MAKING A LIVING? Scout Troop Cookie Sale Nets Night Out Visit the McHenry Public library on Green street and view the interesting craft products made by our Brownies and Junior Scout troops. The girls1 crafts will be on display for one month. Also, all girls interested in joining the Brownies or Junior Scout troops may join the groups at the following times: Brownies, Tuesdays, 4 p.m.; and Junior Scouts, Tuesdays, 7 p.m. All meetings are held at the village hall annex. Speaking of Scouting, the girls of Troop 417 did so well at selling cookies last spring that they were able to go to Great America last May, and they were able to have a grown up "night out" with just the girls. They went to Shady Lane dinner playhouse in Marengo. Nineteen girls and four mothers had a delicious dinner followed by the delightful play, "There Goes The Bride," starring Dale Benson. The girls attending this event were Kari Anderson, Cheryl Buchholtz, Debbie Gorham, Christine Norman, Kathy We Reserve The Right To Limit Quantities On Sale Items Novotny. Donna Turner, Debbie McFaul, Cindy True. Kathy Besliche, Karen Gath. Rusti Blake, Charlene Ein- weck, Kim Kurowski, Charlene Norman. Of course, Pat Einweck. the troop leader was present also. The girls enjoyed a richly deserved good time. Perhaps more exciting things will be in store this year. CENSUSOVER The census has been taken. The census takers commented on the great cooperation"they received from the village residents. If you were missed by the census takers, contact the village hall. BAKE SALE SUCCESSFUL The bake sale, Sept. 10, was a huge success. Over $50 was collected. The proceeds from this bake sale went entirely towards the McHenry Shores library. It was certainly nice to have such cooperation from the villagers. BIRTHDAYS Belated birthday wishes are sent to Mildred Snively, Sept. 17 and Nicole LaFrancis. SEPTEMBER 21. 1977 Extend Repayment Time On Farm-Storage Loans The U.S. Department of Conservation service (ASCS) Agriculture <USDA> an- through its county offices, nounced it is changing the farnv^From 1949 through 1976 thf facility loan repayment period ^Program loaned over $1 billion from the current five years up to "assist farmers in building Fires Flame Regretfully, 1976 ended with a rash of multiple-death fires The worst fire of the year claimed 34 lives. The most costly was a $30 million fire at a grain elevator facility. In last year's worst fire tragedy. 33 of the 88 persons aboard a 727 jet airliner, plus one person on the ground, died when the plane crashed April 29 in Charlotte, Amalie, Virgin Islands. to maximum of eight years. The department feels that lengthening the repayment period and increasing the number of annual installments will help lessen the cash flow problems of farmers obtaining loans. According to department spokesmen, a longer repayment period is needed because of recent changes in the program which (1) in creased the maximum loan amount from $25,000 to $50,000, <2) allows storage needs to be based on two years' production rather than one, and (3) decreased farmers' required downpayments from 30 percent to 15 percent of the cost of structures and equipment. The effect of these changes will be to substantially increase the size of the average loan. By increasing the number of installment payments, each installment will be smaller, thus allowing farmers more flexibility and lessening the possibility of delinquent or defaulted loans, according to the Department. The Farm Facility Loan program is administered by the Agricultural Stabilization and farm facilities with storage capacity of over 2.4 billion bushels. •» Forced To Study "How come your son is doing so well in college?"
