SECTION 2-PAGE6-PLAINDEAI FR-WEDNESDAY. OCTOBER 12. 1977 Operation Update Tests Emergency Operations Operation Update, which tested the plans that have been developed by the Fire, Rescue, Medical, and Emergency Services agency (MCESDA), was held Sunday afternoon throughout the county. In this area, a mock disaster was held at the Ringwood Chemical plant, in which an airplane was supposed to have crashed into the facility. The photos on this page show the various emergency operations. From top left, going clockwise: There were many rescue squads and fire trucks on the scene to combat the disaster. Victims were lodged in every conceivable place, including skids behind the building. Rescue workers donned special suits to fight gasses and flames. The McHenry hospital was used as the place where the victims were transported. Rescue workers loaded victims into vehicles for transportation to the hospital just as they would should a real disaster occur. The injured were taken to the emergency room of McHenry hospital. Finally, in photo above, a youth dangles from a window in the "plane", as a volunteer attempts to determine the extent of his injuries. STAFF PHOTOS BY WAYNE GAYLORD
