A 4 by 8 wedge, for example, supplies half of an adult's daily vitamin A require ment and watermelon is also a good source of vitamin C. Unless the melon is immature, it should be stored in the refrigerator. An immature melon will further ripen at room temperature. Village Youth Responsible For Vandalism Parents, do you know where your children are on any given night? There have been reports of vandalism by village kids lately, and don't forget that if someone signs a complaint against your child, you are responsible. You may have to pay for damages made by your child's slingshot or BB gun or whatever. Please, keep your kids off the streets. BEACH GALS The Christmas party for the children of the village will be held Dec. 10 at the beach house, and some of the kids of the village will be starring in the show. Chairman Karen Parks has set Nov. 5, that's a Saturday, at 1 p.m., for auditions for the Christmas program. There are all sorts of parts for all aged youngsters, so bring your kids down, and Karen says anyone who shows up for the audition will be guaranteed a part in the program. Nov. 2 is the next meeting of the Beach Gals, and help is really needed to work on all our projects. We really do have lots of fun, so won't you join us at the beach house at 7:30, Nov. 2? UP WITH THE LIGHTS The new lights have been installed in the big beach house, and they are really terrific. The place is so bright you can see into every corner. This will really make it easier to have all our activities in the big house, since it won't be dark anymore. Gene Huff, Tom Farrell, Monty Yates and John Wentzel did a great job getting the lights hung and wired, and they all deserve a big round of ap plause. DON'T FORGET... To get a building permit if you need one.... x To have your kids in by curfew, and to know where they are at all times.... To send in your pledge to the McCullom Lake Conservation club To come and help the Beach Gals get ready for the Halloween party, Friday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m... To drive slowly in the village, especially on Halloween weekend HAPPY BIRTHDAY Happy birthday this week to Tim Hocin and Jean Reid, who share Oct. 26 as their big day; to Jamie White, whose birthday is Oct. 28; to Dawn Conway and Steve Sarabia Oct. 29, and to Richard Reiter, who has a birthday Oct. 30. Hope you all enjoy your birthdays. CUB SCOUTS Den 1 of the McHenry Cub Scout pack has resumed cold weather activities, reports Den Mother Karen Sarabia.
