McHenry's Moose lodge was the scene for an evening of fun for friends and supporters numbering nearly 300 persons. Among those attending were several from the Illinois association of Snowmobile clubs including president, Ron Hambly; Ralph Dawson, Charles Metcalf and Skip Bennett and accompanied by their wives. Also guests were Sheriff Art Tyrrell and wife, honorary members of Har­ mony. Guests were entertained by a floor show presented by talented members of the club Shirley Smith, songstress, and Jan Rades, dancer, performed to delight the audience. Then the audience was treated to the sight of eleven male members trouping out in a ballet dance act. After the show, a fine or­ chestra provided dancing music. But, it didn't take long for Mike Burmann of McHenry to break away from the field and romp to victory. At one time, Burmann built up nearly a fifty-yard lead over his nearest competitor on the scenic course. Below, McHenry cross country coach Bill Hutchinson congratulates Burmann on his outstanding effort, while (below right), the star runner takes a moment to catch his breathe following the three-mile run in the mud and rain.
