Youth Hurt, Ticketed In One-Car Accident A Wonder Lake youth was injured and later ticketed in a one-car crash at the top of Sherman hill on Route 120 at 10:05 p.m. Friday, according to McHenry police. Michael J. Suberla, 17, 8015 Widoff drive, Wonder Lake, was transported by the McHenry Rescue squad to the local hospital for treatment. Suberla told officers he was driving west toward Wonder Lake, and on the curve near Martin road, his car started' spinning and sliding sideways. He did not know what his speed was. "His car was reportedly demolished. Police charged him with reckless driving and un necessary noise. No injuries or citations were reported in a collision Nov. 8 at the intersection of Bull Valley road and Route 31, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's department. Gregg G. Peters, 7220 Trey road, McHenry, told deputies that he was southbound on Rt. 31 about 6p.m. and was making a turn west onto Bull Valley road when his car hit some loose material at the in tersection. This caused him to slide into another vehicle which was in the other lane. The driver, Terry A. Britt, 210 Elmhurst street, Crystal Lake; said his car was stopped eastbound waiting at the in tersection. Damage to the Peters car was estimated at $300 and to the Britt vehicle, $400. Mark A. Price, 7810 Wooded Shore drive, Wonder Lake, was ticketed for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident following a collision with a school bus at 2:50 p.m. Nov. 7 on Mason Hill road. No injuries were reported. Price said the bus was preparing to stop with the yellow lights flashing and he braked and skidded into the side rear of the bus. The bus driver, Marglene M. Gough, 3615 Freund avenue, McHenry, and a witness said Price appeared to be trying to pass the bus before it stopped, but then braked and slid on the muddy road surface. The in vestigating officer said that about 400 feet of the road surface was covered with mud from a nearby sod farm. McHenry police reported a number of traffic collisions on Elm street during the week. On Nov. 5 at 10:51, vehicles driven by Harlan J. Wagner, 6513 Dublin drive, Cary, and by Andrew T. Irwin, 1008 N. Front street, McHenry, collided at 3815 W. Elm street, when the Irwin vehicle pulled from a parking place into the outer lane. As traffic in the outer lane began stopping, Irwin said he pulled into the inner lane, not seeing the Wagner car because it was in his blind spot. Damage to each vehicle exceeded $150, police said. A rear end collision between cars driven by Laurel L. Hertel, 2014 W. Route 120, and by Dennis A. Gibson, 4609 Shore drive, both of McHenry, was reported at 3:40 p.m. Nov. 5, on Elm street at Richmond road. Gibson was cited for a traffic violation. Hertel was eastbound and stopped in traffic at the in tersection. The Hertel car was hit in the rear by the Gibson vehicle. Gibson claimed he braked but could not stop in time. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at over $150. Another rear end collision was reported at this same in tersection when a school bus driven by Terrie L. Meyer, 11842 Prairie, Hebron, was struck in the left rear corner by a car driven by Sara S. Sosinski, 4409 W. Parkway, McHenry. Ms. Meyer said she was in the outer lane, and while the green arrow was on the vehicle driven by Ms. Sosinski crept forward and struck the bus, which received $100 in damages. The other vehicle sustained over $100 in damages. Further west on Route 120, beyond the Front street in tersection, another rear end collision was reported between vehicles driven by Marcia S. Wolff, 602 Silbury court, McHenry, and David D. French, 405 N. Kent, McHenry. Ms. Wolff told officers that she was stopping in traffic, and when almost halted, her car was hit in the rear by the French vehicle. French claimed he couldn't avoid the collision because of the wet pavement. No injuries or tickets were reported. On Crystal Lake road, in front of West campus, a vehicle pulling from the parking lot struck a pickup truck that had just started up from ,the shoulder of the road. Kathleen A. Arnold, 612 N. Kent, McHenry, said she was pulling out, and because of another truck and the rain, did not see the vehicle which she hit. __ Edward L. Bass, 2711 Apache trail, McHenry, said he started up from the shoulder and then tried to pull off the road again when he saw the car coming at him. The car received $120 in damage and the truck $200, according to police estimates. On Nov. 2, another collision was reported on Crystal Lake road, at the Lillian street in tersection, between cars driven by Gregory A. Sisk, 1105 Florence, and by Robert L. Vanderwiel, 817 N. Center street, both of McHenry. Sisk said he was driving south on Crystal Lake road, when the Vanderwiel vehicle pulled out and collided with him. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sisk car was estimated at $20, but to the Vanderwiel vehicle, $150.
