The flight, from nearby Lunken Airport was a present from Cardinal Air Training, Inc. Every year, the company gives him a free flight as a gift. "I think it's because I'm their oldest customer," Frazer said, but ask Cardi­ nal employees and they'll say "it's because he's such a nice person." Mr. Frazer has been fly­ ing regularly since getting his private pilot's license 35 years ago, although in the last few years his flying time has been cut to about 10 or 12 hours a year. "It has nothing to do with my age," Frazer assured a writer from The National Council on the Aging. "Now that I'm semi-retired I can't afford the $25 an hour charge too often." That makes his annual birthday gift an even bigger treat. On his most recent birthday flight he flew alone for close to an hour. On other occasions he some­ times takes up one of 'his three sons or six grandchil­ dren, all of whom enjoy fly­ ing with him. Two of his sons are min­ isters in Ohio and the third is a doctor in Maryland. "That's quite a switch," Frazer said, "because be­ fore he moved to Maryland he was a medical mission­ ary in Africa for three years." Born in Cincinnati seven years before the Wright Brothers' historic flight at Kitty Hawk, Frazer's first brush with flying came in his early teens. "I nailed a piece of mat­ ting to two 10-foot poles and jumped off our chicken house into the neighbor's potato patch," Frazer said with a chuckle. Frazer is proud of hav­ ing once met and chatted with Amelia Earhart, the famous aviatrix whose dis­ appearance * was never solved. He also conducted a prayer meeting for Charles Lindbergh when he made the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Despite his lifetime love of flying, Frazer never considered a career in aviation. "I guess I just love peo­ ple more than flying," Frazer said. "That's why I'm still preaching." Even though he retired in 1969, Frazer continues to serve as interim preacher in 13 churches. "I've preached an average of more than once a Sunday the past couple of years," he said. And retirement is a word he uses advisedly, because he can't envision the day when he'll no longer preach --or fly. "As long as I can pass the required physical every two years I'll be flying," Frazer said, "and I hope to be around to sec the year 2000 so I can say I've lived in three centuries.
