I have this certain group of friends who are always dropping by to see me £ without calling me first. I don't m i n d t h e m coming to visit--I like it, in fact. But they've gotten so _ that they expect me to drop whatever it is that I'm doing and entertain them. I don't want to cut my ties with them because they are a fun group of people that I enjoy talking to and doing things with. It's just that I do have other friends and other things I like to do without worrying they will drop by for another surprise visit. How can I tell these people nicely that I wish they'd call first? Petty But l/pset Dear Petty: How about "Please let me know the next time you plan to come over? I'm a pretty busy parson and I'd like to plan my time so when you do visit nothing will get in the way." If that doesn't do the trick, tell them when they arrive that you're busy and they'll have to come back later. If they don't, then they're not very good friends.
