GOING FOR THE PIN - Warrior Mike Zemmeran with a seven-iip lead over his opponent C. Taylor of Waukegan West, wasted no time as he gets a headlock on Taylor in an attempt to pat him on EARL WALSH So I Hear Since there is only one alternative, there is nothing like another birthday. Hearing from old folks and young folks, with special messages, made this one the best ever. The maUman brought cards that I will never toss out. Ma Bell served very nicely for those who chose to give me a wish and a rib. Family, close freinds and relatives came a-callin'. Took time out to go to church and missed a visit we would have enjoyed. The note at our door was from Biff Meyer, relating that "The former Mayor of McHenry, Mrs. Meyer and I called to wish you a Happy Birthday". (The former Mayor would be none other than George P. Freund). Hope they will come back before another year goes by. Clyde Blackwell always comes up with the unusual, one is a special Birthday liz that asks~Are You Old Enough To Remember? Oh, yea. I remember such things as bathrooms with chains, running boards on cars, rumble seats and whole flock of things pictured on the card. Never say one like that before, Clyde. The Chicago Bulls should have learned something when they lost a game on four technical fouls that gave Phoenix four points and a 103- 101 victory. ~T You can think a lot of things about a referee that won't do a bit of harm if you button your lip. Woodstock's Blue Streak football team ran into too much power and too many strong reserves as they ran out of gas in the fourth quarter to lose a 24-7 game to Joliet Catholic. Football enthusiasm was in the air for a week as the City of Woodstock anticipated the big game. The Streaks went a long way in giving their fans an exciting season. SPORTS EDITOR I for Bear fans. What gets me is how they could gain all those yards and score only 10 points. When you think it over, you can only conclude that they played one helluva footbaU game between the 10-yard lines. If our big time health departments don't come up with definite proof before announcing that certain foods "may" cause cancer, they are going to spoil my appetite, i That's like saying so and so "may" be a hoodlum, crook or communist so avoid him' until we have the proof. Standing very still and leaning on my cane one day in a store when a smaU boy came up, looked me over and said, "Are you real or a fake?" When we got better acquainted, he explained that he thought I was one of those dummy models. When this issue hits the newsstands, Thanksgiving Day will be a memory. Turkeys wiU be unstuffed to stuff our tummies. As good as turkey can be at the main meal, there is nothing quite like pickin' the bones in the evening. Now for the jingle bells season with all the rush of hopping and shopping. LELAND G. STROMBOM MEMORIAL HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT SYCAMORE HIGH SCHOOL Nov. 25-26,1977 Game 1: Kaneland- Belvidere, 1:30 (Fri.)
