McHenry, with seven­ teen partners present to enjoy Christmas lunch. Le Petit Chapeau Virginia Mann, Woodstock, called the meeting to order. After the opening ceremonies: standing reports were given. Pearl Cooper, McHenry, chairman for Children and Youth reported it was time for Parade No. 3 and made a motion that $5 be given to the special fund: $5 for milk fund: and $5 to the National Jewish hospital bed fund with the motion carried. Mrs. Cooper also reported that she will be sending the toys in February and would like everyone to please bring toys to the next meeting. April 1 is the deadline for the 12-14 inch stuffed animals for the spring pouvoir. Reba Owen read an acknowledgement from the National Jewish hospital for the $20 that she had sent to them after the last meeting. Betty Paulin, Wonder Lake collected $2 from each partner present, all partners are to give $2 this year instead of baking cookies for the cookie sale. Betty will collect the tax money at the .January meeting. Betty Lingenfelter. McHenry. was introduced as the newest partner. A letter of resignation was read from Effie Phillips and a motion made to accept the resignation with regret. Sunday. Feb. 26. 1978, there will be a dinner at the McHenry I^egion Post home at which time the Departemental Chapeau Peggy Kouba will be a guest. Reservations for the dinner may be made to Lauretta Homo. George Freund was there to hear it. The surprise gathering was prompted by the Dec 1 observance of Mr Freunds eightieth birthday Among those attending were his three sons and their families. Mr and Mrs Jim <Doris> Freund. Mr and Mrs George. <Gloria* Freund. Jr.. and Mr and Mrs Robert L <Renee' Freund. fourteen grandchildren and his great granddaughter. Guided by nieces Barb Gerasch and Betty Weber, a memorable picture collage had been assembled and was presented the octogenarian. Photos gave testimony to the 24 years of civic service to the city of McHenry; a highlight en­ titled "This Is Your Life" which honored the former alderman and mayor in i960; a golden anniversary celebrated by Mr.Freund and his wife. Mary, in 1973; he and Ray McGee pictured as parade marshals for Marine Day festivities: and events in the life of his ovtn family. Mr. Freund. along with his sons, maintains an active in­ terest in his implement business, is a member of the McHenry library board, and the McHenry hospital board. They showed slides of the state of California and talked of the many interesting places such as Hollywood, and Universal studios, views of Disneyland, Hearst castle and San Fran­ cisco. The members enjoyed the program. The meeting was opened by pledging allegiance to the flag and secretary and treasurer's reports were read and ap­ proved. A request by the secretary of state asking that all senior citizens of the state help to acquaint the public with the new state photo ID card pro­ gram was read. The ID card is free to seniors 65 and over and is good for 5 years. The driver s license fee is reduced for seniors 69 or over. President Bill Lamont was to contact the state in regard to their program of bringing their equipment to issue cards at a future meeting for all who wish them. Blood pressure screening will be taken at the Dec. 19 meeting at Nativity church from 11 to 12:30. Refreshments were served and some enjoyed their game of cards. Fish is very busy planning their Christmas baskets for those in need...toys and other gifts (caps, mittens, scarves, books* for all the children, teenagers and our senior citizens. Volunteers are needed to help prepare these baskets Dec 17. and drivers for Dec. 18 and Christmas eve. If you can join in this happy task, please call 385-6182. All non-perishable items of food can be used, as well as canned meats, and personal items which are not available with food stamps - toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, also soap, bleach and laundry detergents. If you have perishable items to give, call 385-6182 regarding delivery: if you prefer to send a donation, it may be inailed to Fish. Box 282. McHenry. Gifts of toys and other items are preferred unwrapped, as this makes it easier in filling the baskets, but supplies of gift- wrapping paper, tags, cards, ribbon or yarn are most welcome. Delivery of the various food items, toys. etc.. can be made up to 3:30 p.m. each day in­ cluding Dec. 16. by the generosity of St Patrick's church. 3500 W. Washington street. We have sixty-one families on our list, some with as many as nine children These baskets are distributed strictly in the McHenry area. All money goes to families as we have no overhead. M G December Vows Repeated By Bridal Couple The committments of marriage were repeated by Vickie Lee Williams and Charles R. Martina, Jr., Saturday, Dec. 10, during a 3:30 p.m. ceremony. The altar of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church was decorated with candelabrums, altar bouquets and a centerpiece of red and white carnations, hoHy and Christmas greens when the Rev. Roger Schneider blessed the union Soloist James Boyd, a family friend, was accompanied at the organ by Rosemary Schneider. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Williams of 918 Royal drive, McHenry, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martina,. Sr.. of -801 Barbara lane, McHenry. The bride chose a floor length white silk organza bridal gown lavishly trimmed with cluny lace at the illusion neckline, bishop sleeves and empire waistline. The double flounced chapel length train was also frosted with matching lace. Cluny lace and tiny seed pearls accented the bodice and Juliet headpiece, which held a finger tip veil. Terri Smith of McHenry assisted as maid Of honor while bridesmaids included Kathy Mergl of Wonder Lake and Dawn Fosdick of Twin Lakes, Wis. The role of flower girl was filled by a McHenry sister of the groom. Nancy Martina. Forest green floor length sleeveless gowns of polyester knit with long sleeved hooded coats trimmed with matching maribou were worn by the attendants. The maribou trim on the maid of honor 's hood was in white White maribou muffs with red roses attached were carried and had been made by the bride's mother. Hie mother of the bride also made the forest green dress worn by the flower girl. It was floor length, long sleeved and featured a hood trimmed with matching maribou She carried a white carnation snowball. Best man duties were carried out by Gary Gilpin of McHenry with Mike Williams, the bride's brother of McHenry . and Mike Pierc^llso of McHenry, acting as groomsmen Greg Miller of Waukegan. ringbearer. carried a satin pillow used at the wedding of the bride's parents. The mother of the bride wore . a mint green «knit full length gown with long sieves while Mrs. Martina chose a formal length gown of jade green with a long sleeved jacket trimmed in maribou. One hundred and seventy- five toasted the bridal couple at the VFW hall following the ceremony with Tricia Boyd, a friend of the bride, passing the guest book. Special guests of honor included grandparents, Mrs. Lawrence Williams of Sarasota, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Stan Anderson of McHenry, Mr. and Mrs. John Martina of Franklin Park and great grandmother. Bertha Engher of Woodstock, who is 93 years of age. An apartment at Southgate, McHenry. awaits the couple after a honeymoon trip to Disney World, Fla. The bride is a 1976 graduate of McHenry community high school and is employed as a secretary in McHenry. The groom graduated from Marian Central Catholic high school in 1975 and is a hydraulics mechanic in Gurnee. The bride's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Lutheran church prior to the wedding. A shower hosted by tlfc bridesmaids and Deniae Boyd was held at the home of Mfl$. Crystal Lake. The program is spon­ sored by Parents Without Partners Smile chapter No. 189. Mr. Mosiman has developed a fascinating new form of cultural entertainment called "Musical Paintings". He creates large paintings while drawing in rhythm with music. In his performance he is ac­ companied by synchronized orchestral sound tracks and theatrical lighting effects. The sound system and lights involve 200 pounds of special equip­ ment. The paintings which will be featured in his coming per­ formance include: "Nut­ cracker Suite" and "The Manger Scene". Admission to the per­ formance is reduced for members and the public is welcome for a small fee. Lovely chiffon dresses, in beautiful shades of color, are being shown for the holiday season.
