A date has been set for the regular monthly meeting of the zoning board. It will be the second Monday of every month at the village annex at 7:30 p.m. These meetings are open to the public. The members of the zoning board are looking for a secretary to take minutes at then1 meetings. Perhaps some high school student who has a background in secretarial skills or one who is looking to gain experience in taking minutes of meetings would be interested in this positon. Warren and her dad, Wayne, will host the regular bi-monthly meeting of Indian guide at their home. The girls and their fathers will be making terrariums using jars and cuttings from J.J.'s mom's plants. The girls will learn the various techniques involved with making terrariums, and they will also learn some important i n f o r m a t i o n a b o u t photosysthesis. Some folks were initially disappointed when their Christmas trees were not picked up on the first refuse „ after the holidays. This disappointment turned to joy when the trees were picked up last week on a pickup day which was not quite so cluttered with holiday boxes, trees, and extras. An impossible dream? By keeping good financial records the taxpayer can not only substantiate expenses, income and itemized deduc­ tions listed on his or her tax return, but also be aware of certain deductions that might otherwise be overlooked. Though taxpayers are not required to keep any particular type of records, they must retain all receipts, cancelled checks, bills and other written documents to prove their ex­ penses. These records must be kept for at least three yearsftom the date that the return was due or filed, or two years ^om the date that the tax was paid, whichever occurs later. Some records should be kept even longer, Miriani advised. For example, property records should be retained as long as they are useful in determining the basis of the original or replacement property. And keeping copies of past tax returns can help the taxpayer prepare future returns. Behavior Interpretation Seminar At Hospital A seminar designed to teach health^ care workers how to observe and interpret verbal and non-verbal behavior, will be presented Jan. 18 at an afternoon and evening session at McHenry hospital. Sponsored by the hospital's S t a f f D e v e l o p m e n t department, the seminar will be taught by Sharon M. Cooper, M.Ed., instructor and consultant at the University of Health Sciences of the Chicago Medical school. "In addition to teaching participants how to observe and interpret specific behaviors, the seminar will focus on the process of behavioral modification," according to Pat Kelly, R.N., Staff Development coordinator at McHenry hospital. "Anyone . who must make sound judgments about what people are really saying will benefit from this presentation. As a health care resource, we' are particulary interested in serving the needs of personnel who work in hospitals, nursing homes, industrial and school health, and private practice." Open Special Recreation Winter-Spring Progra The Northern Illinois Special Recreation association's adult winter-spring programs will begin the first week in February and continue through April. Programs are open to all adults over 20 years of age who are unable to participate in regular recreational programs. Programs include Saturday Adult club, co-ed gym, hobl crafts, and special events.
