STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Open Auditions For "Cat On Hot Tin Roof" The McHenry County college Theatre department will hold open auditions for Tennessee Williams' "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof" Thursday, Jan. 26, from 1 toTjrnh «nd Friday, January 27 from 7 to 10 p.m. Both auditions will be held at McHenry County college and are open to all MCC students and all interested area residents. "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof" will be McHenry County college's first major production under the directorship of Robert Riner, instructor of theatre at the college. Production dates for "Cat" are March 9, 10 and 11 at the Woodstock Opera house. BRIAN JAHIAINEN Brian Jahiainen, Crystal Lake, winner of the 1977 McHenry County fair talent contest, senior division, will compete in the Illinois state contest at Springfield Jan. 22. The contest is held in connection with the annual convention of the Illinois Association of County Fairs at the Holiday Inn East at Springfield. Brian, a bass-baritone, will sing his favorite, "Old Man River", and a pop song in the contest. He will be accompanied by Mary Jo Schwantkowski of Cary. He is a student at Wheaton college and takes voice lessons at Chicago Conservatory of Music. W.H. Tammeus, director of the County fair talent contest plans to attend. He started the state talent contest several years ago and wrote the rules for conducting it. The winner of this state contest will appear on the program at the Illinois state armory Monday evening, Jan. 23, during the selection of Miss Illinois County fair. Cheri James, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon James, Algonquin, will compete in this Miss Illinois County Fair contest. She earned the opportunity when she captured the Miss McHenry County title during festivities at the 1977 McHenry County fair. The McHenry County Fair association is sponsoring Cheri and several representatives of the fair board will be on hand to cheer this 5 feet 4 inch beauty.
