Coach Marty Sobczak's fast improving McHenry High "Rassling Warriors" easily defeated two North Suburban foes over the weekend by wide margins. On Friday night at home they defeated Lake Forest 47 to 15 and on Saturday afternoon, they won at Libertyville 33 to 15. Coach Jeff Clayton took his freshmen swimmers to the Libertyville Freshmen In­ vitational Swim meet and came home with the first place trophy. Last Saturday, the McHenry Girls Volleyball team beat Marengo in the Sub-District match of the Illinois State Volleyball tournament. After several years of trying, the Crystal Lake Tigers finally stung the Warriors with» a convincing 71 to 49 defeat at Crystal I^ake. The Woodstock Blue Streaks defeated the McHenry High Warriors in a Saturday night brawl at Woodstock 75 to 69. The annual Snow Follies Men's Basketball tournament, held in Huntley the last two weekends, was won by lakeland construction, which consists of players all from McHenry. The McHenry High sophomore cagers of Gary Collins lost a tough game Friday night to Crown 61 to 57. The "Fighting Warriors" ended their five game losing streak with a convincing 86 to 64 win over the hapless Crown Vikings Friday night at West Campus. Coach Mike Shanahan's McHenry High swimming team won a triangular meet last week when they defeated Elgin I^arkin and Waubonsie Valley. The second annual "Rescue 50" drew ninety-one snowmobiles to the McHenry Moose lodge for the start of the marathon that benefitted the rescue squads of McHenry and Johnsburg. Pledges totaled $4,710. FEBRUARY A tall talented group of Barrington Broncos defeated the McHenry high Warriors by the score of 83 to 74 The Lake Forest swimmers bested the McHenry high team last week by a score of 93 to 56. Scott and Jim Hall each won two events for the local squad. Coach Marty Sobczak's McHenry high grapplers defeated Mundelein Tuesday night by the score of 34 to 12. Coach Gary Collins sophomore cagers split a pair of games the past weekend. On Friday they lost to Zion Benton 48 to 39 and Saturday, avenged an earlier defeat in a real thriller, 47 to 45. The McHenry high "Rassling Warriors" finished 7th in the North Suburban conference meet held at Lake Forest last weekend. The Lake Region Sports Car club (LRSCC) retained its hold on first place in the Ice Challenge Event < ICE > series as nine members of the local club collected a total of 15 points in the third of four races. Coach Mike Shanahan's McHenry high "Water Warriors" closed out their most successful season by defeating both Dundee and Woodstock. The Warriors finished their dual meet season with a record jf 12 wins and only 5 defeats. Howie Useman. Coach Ken Ludwig's McHenry high fighting Warriors closed out regular season play over Crown 87 to 76.
