SUPPLEMENT TO McHENRY PLA1NDEALER - PAGE 20 - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1. 1978 Ml were put into the three lakes at Moraine Hills State park, stocking the lake before the busy summer season. The catfish average 14 lbs. in weight with an occasional one being as large as 35 lbs. Over 160 golfers participated in the fifth annual Joe Frett Memorial Golf outing at the Chapel Hill Country club. Art Jackson walked away from the day of golf, dinner and en­ tertainment with the lowest scratch round firing a one- over-par 71. The Rusty Nail swept two important games from O'Brewery and took over sole leadership in McHenry area 12- inch Softball. The 2 wins made it nine in a row for the Nail and ended the Brewery's 9 game streak. JULY JULY The 1977 McHenry Softball All-Star games will go down in history as the "day of the Bentz's"-at least in game one, as Don, Mark and Myron combined for 10 hits, 7 runs and 14 RBI's The 16-Inch Stars came from behind to a 24-23 victory. Ten champions and co- champions were crowned athletic "stars", winning titles in their respective classifications in the second annual Superstars competition held at Petersen park. A total of thirty-five competitors in eight age-sex groups battled each other as well as the near-100 degree heat for three hours before the ten were named. The Racket club's women's traveling doubles team, featuring five McHenry standouts, dominated its first match of the season, toppling the Valley Hills tennis club. Perseverance finally paid off for Buss Ford in the McHenry Pigtail league Junior division (ages 8-10) with the team recording its first two wins of the season after losing its first seven games. The fourth annual seven-mile McHenry road race held Tuesday, July 19, turned out to be a family affair for a brother- sister duo from Lake Villa with 19-year-old Joe Sheeran and his younger sister, Wendy, being the first man and girl across the finish line.
