Jan 25, Cub Stout Pack 145 met at Harrison school for a night at the races Much vhard work and creative imagination by the scouts and their dads produced an im­ pressive line-up of cars The races began and when they were over and the dust had settled, first place trophy was presented to Mark Jinga; second place trophy to Rich Sullivan and third place trophy to Pat Huff The trophy for best design was given to Steve House and Mike Hauck was awarded for the most umisual design Badges made\by Sharon McGowan were giver first, second and third pla6e winners of the first heat races. Before this exciting part of the evening, the regular business of the p^ck was conducted by Cupmaster William Hauck NewyBobcats welcomed to the pack \wre Rob Fyock. Dave House\Tony Morales and Rich Sul Rick .Jacobson and Shawn McGowan were advanced to Weblos. Rick Zabel. Billy Howard and Jeff Schuster moved on to the rank of Boy Scouts John Chesler received his Wolf badge and Silver Arrows were awarded to Brian Nutter. Shawn McGowan. Scott Kimble. Mike Freund and Steve House Scott Kimble also received a Gold Arrow Mike Dicker received his Aquanaut badge ' Den Leader Coach Sharon Peters, presented retiring den mothers. Sharon McGowan and Joan Freund and former Webelo leader, Doug House, with small gifts and a large amount of appreciation for their hard and good work for the pack New den mothers are Betty Moore, Leana Jacobson, Barb Heman and Karen Six Ed Iceman has filled in for Doug House temporarily as Webelo leader Sharon also expressed the for parents or anyone interested in working with the scouts, to help on the Cub Scout committee The committee is made up of parents who help plan activities and guide the pack All that is involved is a meeting once a month. The meetings are usually on Monday nights and last about an hour A Webelo leader is also needed Please contact Sharon if you tan help Scout Sunday is Feb 12 and an especially important day in Wonder Lake Bob Nutter and Krank Lindner of Troop 145 will receive the Kagle Scout award at Christ the King church, beginning at 2 p.m. Polotocal, school and church dignitaties will be on hand to honor the Scouts Everyone is welcome to attend this impressive ceremony The Blue and Gold banquet has been scheduled for Sunday, Keb 19. at Christ the King hall from 5 to ") p.m. There will be a potluck dinner and the Scouts will be making floats for their Mardi Cras theme ANNIVERSARY Happy twenty-sixth wedding anniversary to Tom and Lois Mathews Feb 2. Awards were presented to the scouts by Doug Albrecht. Appreciation was expressed to the Wonder Lake Athletic association for money donated to Pack 456. The scouts are again saving newspapers for the paper drive. A trip to Spring Grove Business Forms was interesting to the boys who attended Future activities include an outing to Eagle cave for the Boy Scouts and a roller skating outing in March. Jim Gilmour, left, MCC counselor, and Howard Miller, veterans coordinator at MCC, discuss the workshop for veterans offered by McHenry County college. Gilmour and Miller will conduct the workshop which will help answer many of the questions which are currently keeping veterans from taking advantage of a college education. The workshop will be held at the Woodstock District 200 high \school in Room 208 Tuesday. Feb. 7. The time is 7 to 10 p.m. Veterans have an unique set of needs resulting from their period of service which removed them from the educational environment. The workshop is designed to provide the veteran with coping techniques and information for a more meaningful transition into college life. Low pressure (bad weather) systems circu­ late counter-clockwise. High pressure systems rotate clock­ wise. Therefore, with your back to the wind, in a low pressure system, your left hand would point to the center of the disturbance.
