Homeowners and hobbyists interested in learning some of the principles involved in growing their own fruit will want to mark Feb. 13 and 20 on their calendars. Dan Meador, University of Illinois Extension fruit crops specialist, will present two TeleNet sessions on growing tree fruits at the Extension Office at 11909 McConnell road, Woodstock. During the two-hour session, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night, he will discuss and show slides on how to select plant material to grow in the home landscape. Meador recom­ mends that homeowners plant dwarf fruit trees because of the ease of controlling disease and insect pests and in harvesting fruit. In addition to planting, maintenance and pruning techniques, Meador will discuss varieties best suited to this area.
