A number of members were recognized by newly appointed President Henry Rahn and given the floor to speak regarding their views and a written vote was taken. Ap­ proval designated that the V.F.W. hall will be the new home of the McHenry Senior Citizens club, starting with the Feb. 27 meeting. A resolution was presented and read but not discussed: "A resolution to increase the dues retroactive to Jan. 1,1978". The discussion on this resolution will take place at the Feb. 27 meeting, and will then be voted on later. The dues have not been in­ creased since the club began, and now with the increased cost of everything, including rent, added income will be essential to meet the club's operating expenses. The 138 in attendance had united in reciting the pledge of allegiance to the flag. A moment of silence was then observed in memory of a deceased member Frank Fleet. As it was President Rahn's first meeting after installation, he acknowledged all the members for coming out, and asked their indulgence until he becomes more familiar with his office, and anticipates their cooperation, which he will appreciate. He then introduced the entire corps of officers and chairpersons for 1978, who recieved a hearty round of applause. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap­ proved, and the treasurer's report was read, approved and filed for audit. Although the weather was cold and there was plenty of snow everywhere, President Rahn felt it would make everyone aware good weather is getting closer when he an­ nounced the annual club picnic, scheduled for Saturday, July 15, at the Johnsburg com­ munity grounds. Jan Jones, who is in charge of the McHenry county Homemakers Extension association annual meeting in April, reported to members at the Feb. 13 monthly meeting on the entertainment which will be on extra sensory perception. The table decorations, food, and seating were discussed. The meeting will be held at Pals restaurant in Woodstock. Helen Heider, first vice- president, reported on projects that will be given in the future such as body sweater demonstration by Needles & Pins March 14, canning and freezing lessons to be given in March and macrame-advanced in April. More specific dates will be announced later. Public Information Chair­ man Rose Weskerna reported on the letter from District Public Information Chairman Nancy Gillfillan inviting McHenry county to bring the history book to be on display at Wardall hall during the I.H.E.F. annual conference March 21 through March 23. International Chairman Carolyn Steck reported on the Kisivaker disease in children of Africa and will be sending out more information to units about this project to help them through nutritional programs. Mary Kynel reported on the Harvesting Our Heritage committee meeting which was held last month. Another meeting is scheduled April 10. Nancy Moore, Extension adviser, home economics, reported on the progress of the relocation committee and what plans are being put into operation. The kitchen com­ mittee who did the serving consisted of Claire Miller, chairman, and June Mueller, Val Arseneau, Italia Mazzoni and Leona Estis along with volunteers Kay Del Genio, Jo Rizzo, Helen Koblitz, Leone Lawrence and Lillian Bolger.
