Do you care enough to share yourself and your home with a troubled youth who is tem porarily a ward of the Court? That question is asked this week by the McHenry County Department of Court Services. Unless a troubled teen is offered love, understanding, and skilled help now, the department feels his scars will probably prevent him from becoming a useful member in society, and a good parent to his own children. The McHenry County Department of Court Services needs caring people to open their homes and themselves to these youths. Foster parents are reimbursed for the care of foster children, so that it will not be an extra financial burden to them Foster homes can help to provide a normal, healthy, genuine family environment that is essential to a child's growth and well being. Foster parents can provide the love, understanding, and security that every child needs and should be entitled to. Be becoming a foster parent, one can make an unique con tribution to these teens who have special needs, and to the society in which they will one day take their places All challenged by the need, who feel they might qualify as foster parents, should call the Deoartment of Court Services and ask for Betty Atfield or Kathy Willson < 815 338-2040. extension :i(H)) r Senior Hot Line j GEM CLEANERS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE A NEW AND MORE CONVENIENT LOCATION! • WE WILL BE SHAMROCK CLEANERS IN THE McHenry Market Place Shopping Center A NEW NAME A NEW LOCATION SHAMROCK CLEANERS iter Am &EWTTWEPNO* 4400 W. My mother was ap proached by a salesman for a prepaid funeral plan, payments being made on a contract weekly basis. Can you tell me about this arrangement for elderly people? A. Prepaid funeral plans pose elderly consumer problems. Persons should be aware of consumer problems arising out of the prepaid funeral device, sales of which are concentrated upon the low income, usually minority, persons. In a recent case, a cemetery association sold prepaid funeral contracts under which the purchaser is to pay approximately 60 cents per week for the prepaid funeral. The gimmick is that the con tract limits the seller's liability to a fixed sum < $200 in this case, under a 1958 contract), while the purchaser pays until the day of death. Such an arrangement contains more than a whisper of deception and overreading Q. What are some of the problems to be aware of on prepaid funeral contracts0 A. Some contracts are written so fhat the deceased must be buried at a specified place. If an individual, who has fully paid for the funeral, permanently moves from the state or vicinity where the services are offered, upon death, the survivors have the option of forfeiting the money paid in or making costly arrangements for a funeral many miles away. While the prepaid funeral contract may provide for in terest paid upon the amounts paid in, the rate of interest might be much lower than the %f Itfondez JZake Onn Dinner • Cocktails • Family Dinner "Live Western Music" FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NITES CARRY OUT ORDERS!
